Volks Customize Figure

This is a completely impulse buy on my side from HLJ Christmas offer, I bought her not knowing that she's a resin kit. I though she was a mini dolfie :P (yeah well, what do you expect for a 3500 yen item (after discount from 8800 that is :D) :P)

After studying the instruction carefully, I think it's a rather interesting kit. So I wonder if anyone ever build this kind of figure before and have a how to tips or at least the preparations and stuff?

I heard that you have to soak them in soap water first before doing anything on it (for garage kit), is it the same with volks's figure?

I also almost bought her but luckily I read the description.

It's totally resin kit where you need to assemble and paint it yourself.
Just take your time doing this. Do not rush it or things aren't coming out good.

Poseable articulated resin kits tend to be molded in correct colours so no bath or painting is required but you mht want to panel line her afterwards.
I haven't built any volks kits like this but if it's anything like the liquidstone fate I bought, then take your time and if you need to make your own socke connections make sure that you have the correct drill size!!
I suspect that most parts will be snap fit tho so it shouldn't be too difficult

      That's what I though too

When I open the box and inspect the pieces, most of them are in correct color, and the excess resin is tidier than, say, a regular garage kit (specifically, Gundam garage Kit that one of my friend have)

the parts that need painting are probably her armor and equipments, her torso is her armor, and her hips probably need to be painted white if I want her to wear pants, (I wonder if I can go crazy enough to actually sculpt some... biological parts as well :P

I think I'm gonna have fun with this :)

If you want to paint the parts, you must clean "the mold releasing agent" first using water with detergent (rinso, attack, surf, whatever you can find).

There's always an agent. They're there on the Gunpla as well, even though you can't see it. It's to help remove the parts from the mold, otherwise the parts might stick too strongly to the mold and won't come out.

Warm water, soft cloth and ordinary dish soap is fine, I use the same for the release agents on model cars, no worries...

before I got my ultra convenient ultrasonic cleaner, I just filled a container with warm water and mixed in some dishwasher powder into it.
Leave the parts to soak for a while and then scrub with an old toothbrush to get in the little areas.

Normally, wash 'n scrub before sanding 'n cutting. Won't gunk-up the files or sandpaper that way..
