Gundam Gundamn

I am sure regular gunpla kits modeler more or less would have come across fake or cheap imitation of Bandai's Gundam model kits.
Its been around for awhile now and so far I have seen MG, HG and SD imitations.
Latest MG imitation would be Unicorn gundam, but might have newer ones.
For HG will be Double 0 series and Sangokuden for SD series.
I remember seeing PG wing gundam imitation before.....

I bought this imitation many moons ago out of curiosity.
It is in chinese so you can guess where it is manufactured.
I did not fix it until recently when I decided to clear my tower O plamo.
I must say.....it s%@ks. Here is my experience.

Parts do fit together but many of the seams are off.
Luckily the parts do hold together, still do not need glue.

You have to push really hard, I Mean really, really hard to get the polycap into the hole, then close it with the same runner of the other side for the arms or for the legs.
My fingers were really hurting a lot just after fixing the chest and one arm of the kit.
You just keep pressing and pressing and the part would not go in T_T!
I think by now, most people would have given up on the kit and throw the whole box away.
At one point I really consider taking the hammer to smash the thing to pieces.
Its that frustrating !!!

Runners were softer and more dullish color.
They also warp and is not straight or flat. But they are more glossy.
Think is because they use lower quality or lower ratio of raw materials.
But the polycap is one tough nut.

Well, look at the bright side, Since TT hongli's quality is a bit close to bandai's (but yeah, still inferior because some parts don't fit and the plastic is cheap and quite brittle) Atleast you can enjoy yourself with that, like making prototype mods or kitbashing, there's a lot for you to do since its a knockoff. Whenever I try and think of modifying a gundam sometimes I think, I might regret it since it is original. But with TT hongli, you won't. Think about it for a second. ^_^
Now I think I heard this saying from my friend who had its sources: "A samurai's blade is not made by it's highclass materials but the skill of the blacksmith regardless of it's quality."
That's very true.
That's a true saying, but it would better go with FG kits, instead of bootlegs that steal bandai's products.
The first picture says it all...
Having a bad experience when got one , nevertheless like wannbe17 say I rip some of it parts for kitbashing.
I still prefer the originals rather than bootleg ones... Even if its expensive... you still cant beat quality...
@Wannabe17
I think that saying isnt applicable here since cheap plastic reacts differently from original ones.
well, if you know your plastic, that saying is still applicable. ^_^

Believe it or dont....^_^
Haha IIRC the bootleg one never dares to use Bandai logo. IINM, the mould for the bootleg Gunpla actually was sold to the company by Bandai. As part of QC, Bandai usuakky will replace the mould used for the kit after a certain number of use. Bandai then will sell the mould to others, and even permits them to sell gunpla made from it, with a condition; never put Bandai logo on their product.
QC? Wait a sec, permit me to ask you but do you mean Quezon City?
I think he means Quality Control.
Oh...My apologies, because there's a similarity of what he mentioned and it happened to be also in my country. ^^
oh, thats what i thought. otherwise how else would these bootleggers get their hands on the molds
in china you have no laws to copyright material, so tt hongli is able to do whatver they want, the problem starts when they start to sell those kits outside china territory, its not illegal in china but in other countrys it is, coment only if you realy know something about this delicate subject and not some stupid teory of conspiracy that some tt hongli fan told you.
am i dead? omg! i'm a ghost!
i see... the.. light.. is that you GOD gundam? *u*
This Logo must be like this T_T ... LOL
I didn't notice it....^^;
T_T
im not sure whether it is true that bandai secretly allow the production of bootleg gunpla, but if it is not, the standard of copying in some way is amazing. and i agree that u wont feel bad if u kid bash these bootleg gunpla XD
i've only complete one bootleg sd before.. not for the HG version.. just can't get it right to fit the part in.. so i will never buy bootleg gundam anymore.. it really a waste of money but a good stuff for experiment some special modification.. as i said.. just for experiment.. the true modification still better of using the real part or putty..
the only reason to get imitations are when u need cheap dead bodies for dios.
and spare weapons / weapons to kit bash otherwise.
don't try mod imitation gundam will be failed
Years ago my cousin bought a Bendi brand MG Titans Mk II... >,<
Gundam!!!
I've been modifying Gundam kits using genuine kits, so I don't wanna bother with imitation. I doubt it'll be much cheaper anyway. Anyway... interesting comparison between the real and imitation one.
Thanks. This will be my first and also last one, no more imitation plamos ^^;;
i must say, the bootlegs quality is improving!
they even go as far as to translate the text to chinese.
and the parts can fit !!!
so much better than the old bootleg hg freedom i had, which cant even hold itself together. even with the help of glue, it cant stand right
Actually TT isn't that bad but It had a Lawsuit case with Bandai Some time ago and they lost so now TT has changed its name to GAO GAO. lol! There is another 2 more Imitation brands in china one is the Model GD or so Called GHD in terms of quality It loses to TT greatly as parts drop off easily TT release slowly but It has released 2 PG I think one is wing Gundam and the other is Strike But GHD only Released 1 PG which is the strike. But GHD release other like MG faster but looks ugly And worst of them all is the Dragon Brand from Hong Kong the Model dosen't even have proper colour it is like single coloured I must use SUPER GLUE to Stick it on I think the TT/GAO GAO is the Best Imitation Quality there is out there in the market and It is quite cheap from what I Heard if u buy directly from china Hg for about 5SGD and MG aboout 10SGD and PG for about 50SGD only in china but some dishonest Shop in singapore sell them at the orginal price/half price Including PVC models not worth the moeny if it is bought at half price but in the end Buying the orginal BANDAI is still the best.
