絵師100人 100 Masters of Bishojo Painting
絵師100人 100 Masters of Bishojo Painting was released December 16th, 2009 with a retail cost of ¥ 2,499. This 216-page, B5 sized art book is like a directory listing of popular and up-coming artists on the Japanese digital illustration scene. But unlike previous collections of a similar nature, this is dually written in both Japanese and English!

One of the cool things about the inclusion of English in the book is that it really makes the effort of reaching out to fans around the world, and not just in Japan. It also helps to get these artists out there and better known ^^

There are three new illustrations aside from the cover art by Range Murata included in the book. This is one of them, and it's illustrated by VOFAN, character designer for Bakemonogatari.

Here's another one of the new ones, and it's drawn by toi8. The other new one is by Shimeko.

Each artist gets two pages, and for the most part one is a full page illustration. There is even some copyright art in this book, like Horo from Spice and Wolf by Jyuu Ayakura.

These lovely school girls are by Amane Soh. An artist profile is provided with each set of illustrations, so you can visit their websites and pixiv profiles, etc.

Another illustration by VOFAN.

Kamiya Yuu---a very colorful artist. There are a 100 illustrators featured in this book, so you're bound to see something you like.

Yoshinori Shizuma. His art work is very popular online and on Pixiv. I usually see it labled as "Mars" on image boards.

Nitroplus artist Tsuji Santa. If you're ever in the mood to delve deeper into your repertoire of artists, 絵師100人 100 Masters is an excellent place to start.
Much longer review on my site, with more pictures in case you're not too sure about it yet!

After reading your review I actually ordered this from Kinokuniya. They should be shipping it out today and hopefully I'll receive it before Christmas since it's coming from their New York shop. Either way, it looks like a great book. I like art books that debut new and upcoming artists along with veterans of the business. The fact it comes in both Japanese and English literations is just a bonus.
I was weighing whether or not to buy Girls! Girls! Girls! 4 or this one but since 100 Masters contains more than half the pages in addition to more artists and different styles I opted the latter instead. Plus it seemed to be a better deal...G!4 would come out to double the price while 100M came to be only plus 1/2.
Ohhhhh, noooo!!! (OO) Somebody should help (the dog)!
gorgeous art! I love range murata's artwork ^O^
why won't my list stop!???? (want to buy list)
I wonder if HLJ or Amiami has em.
In english too huh? Thats an interesting twist, it would be great if other illustration artbooks are like this, I have a few and if the text were also in english I would definitely be even much happier than I am now.
Hmmm, I wonder why she has 2 controllers down there.....
Gah! Selling point was the Range Murata cover! XD
I thought she was kagami when i look at it for the first time lol
What if this drop at her?? ouch..
wow.... this book is gonna be a get for me =DDDDD
Looks interesting but too bad I don't have much for illustration books. ^ ^;
