2010 : Year of The RPG
With The Constant Hyping of FFXIII , a lot of people are not aware that there will be tons of exclusive RPG games coming to the PS3 . Since over the past 3 years , RPGs have been lacking on the PS3 and more on the Xbox360 .
Here I'll show whats in store for us in 2010 : Year of the RPG
If FFXIII fails me , I would totally buy this game because I like Anime-ish CGs better and its Transformation scenes .
I Haven't played any Ar Tonelico games either , so this will be my first . Is Ar Tonelico a continuing game or is it new story every sequel of it ??
I have been waiting for this game to be translated to English for months !!! Its a Hit all over Tokyo and is one of the most anticipated RPG games in 2008 .
Would be released in February 2010 , with its Graphics and stunning CG . I really can't wait for this game ^0^

This Once Exclusive Xbox 360 game has been converted to the PS3 with even more Special Features . With Beautiful 2.5 D Graphics and Characters , You can't easily just put down this game
I've been hearing lots of Xbox fanboys saying this RPG game is Epic and has a great plot . Well , I can't wait for this game either ^_^ besides it has Pirate Loli !!!
Star Ocean just looks stunning , Its CG and everything is just amazing , It might even compete against FFXIII . It almost looks like a Japanese version of Star Wars .
I don't play The Star Ocean Series , So I'm kinda New with this game ^^;;
An Upcoming Disgea Game also will be translated to English in 2010 . It looks more like a Dating Sim Game rather than a RPG Game , Lots of 2D girls there ^^ . The graphics are really bright and colourful in 3D graphics and it looks interesting enough to play given its the first RPG game for the Disgae series .
The Promised PS3 Exclusive FF game . Final Fantasy Versus XIII 's plot will make you into tears as its been directed by Tetsuya Nomura ( Creator of Kingdom Hearts ) with an even darker theme .
I expect the Gameplay would be the same as FFXIII but the Realm and Plot would be entirely different .Can't wait for this too ^w^
Honestly saying , I have heard lots of news from SC that FF XIII is a Bad Game . Me knowing 2ch otakus are actually experts in JRPGs .
The one thing I'm afraid of FF XIII is this : "The whole game just repeats the movie-battle sequence over and over [In fact the progression is closer to movie-run-battle-run-movie-boss-movie-run-battle…] "
Also , The PS3 Ver . contains 38 GB of BD with 8GB being The Gamedata and the rest given to Hardcore CG Movies as read from here . I would still buy FFXIII just to see how Good it is .
I'm a bit suspicous about the Trailers though , It shows more CG Movies and less about the Gameplay . you can see it here :
So there you have it , 7 RPGs coming to The PS3 in 2010 . Can't wait to buy almost all of them ^_^ .
after all that hype about ff13 and the constant delays, now ppl are saying it will suck? But you're right that a lot of ppl will still buy it though. I'm still waiting for a full ff7 remake.
white knight chronicle came from the same group dark cloud 2 in PS2
which was a very GREAT action RPG and i want to play any "level 5" group creations
FF XIII, i already got the jist of it, CG, CG, CG, fight, grind, boss, CG, CG, CG, CG
that's why SQ take their time on developing it, they don't make game, they make interactive movie
IMO square counterpart are corrupting enix counter, and their corruption is not good
enix are more aiming to japanese market, or otaku, and square are aiming to international market, which is... americans, and it ain't good, no offense here
i dunno much about old squaresoft, but before they join, enix already publish manga's and merchandise, and they still are until now
o, don't forget to add resonance of fate/end of eternity by sega, it was developed by tri-ace. which is the group who made valkrie profile lenneth & silmeria, also star ocean 1 & 2
in that case they was enix main weapon for RPG genre, but seem to me they are being payed more by sega..., sega is kicking this year with bayonetta to, recruiting hideki kamiya who's started the hard stylish genre (DMC & viewtiful joe to be exact )

tri-ace want it to become anime like, and maybe they are, so why it turn out to be normal 3D + 2D which was not good at both either? i speculate all higher up in square is forcing the technology of 3D...
I find End of Eternity to be quite tedious after seeing the gameplay despite the super cute girl in the game (^o^) The switching from cinematic action to character running through the field each time you attack seems to get annoying after a while. Though all the acrobatic gunslinger action is all nice n stuff the switching back n forth isn't attractive and I play JRPG mainly for the story not that much for the battle system(though it must be decent at least) due to that I'm not a big fan of Tri-Ace's story plots so I'm a bit hesitant about this game even though it has really nice visuals n stuff.

I mean.. Square RPG should be like FFIV until FFX (which more like a downgrade in each series), more fantasy, magic, summon based storyline, a good character development, and also World Map!!
Tri-Ace is a good RPG maker..
I still don't know about White Knight Chronicles though..
but recently I see Sega RPG quite amusing.. I have tried Valkyria Chronicles and it's awesome.. (gameplay, story, graphics)
Ar Tonelico III looks awesome. I mean, the less armor the more powerful. That's awesome.
Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy, played each one after 7 and will probably play the next ones too, though the last FF really disappointed me.
Am a big fan of Level 5 ever since the first dark cloud that came out. I've been waiting for White Knight Chronicles ever since I heard about it. The battle engine itself looks like FF12 which I am a little bit disappointed about as I didn't like 12's style but it seems Level 5 gave it a pretty good twist to it.
As for Tri-Ace, I find myself not quite excited about their game after my experiences with 2 star ocean series and valkyrie profile. Their plot have potential but each important background story related to the main plot was always pushed aside before its conclusion. The worst would probably be S03, I took hours leveling up my characters and in the end they literally "popped out of my ps2" and gave me a wacking just because I decided to delete the save file to play another game. If you played the game you would understand XD
All the ones you mentioned seems to be interesting except for Tri-Ace's as my experiences with their games have always been a let down despite the acclaimed battle engine that every fan of theirs are always talking about.
Love Ar Tonelico series for their Hymnnos and the continuity of the story :D

Still wonder why game developers can't make most Anime games right? O.O As for the graphics I mean, with the technology these days we can make people look almost real in actual gameplay (Kill zone 2, MGS4, uncharted 2, etc) but they still can't make the characters for anime look like the actual characters. Their either too cartoonish, real blocky, or a realistic twist to them. Just my opinion >.>
Still stuck on PS2.
I loved Star Ocean 3 on the PS2, a good rpg might entice me into getting a PS3.
believe me.. 1 Valkyria Chronicles is enough to get us a PS3 and don't forget about next year Star Ocean 4..

I will pick Star Ocean 4, Tales of Vesperia (if they decided to port it to US).
Ar tonelico usually isn't a continuing game.. but the downside of the third sequel is: it become 3D!!! Usually Ar tonelico main appeal are in it 2D CG Graphic, but well might give it a try..

I hope they realize that's the progression of about 80% of the games ever made.
I just kind of hope they delay White Knight Chronicles,just because that's way too close to FFXIII. It's going to tank as it is.
Yeah , just like Valkyria Chronicles Bad Timing ruins the sales .
Who knows , Maybe White Knight Chronicles miraclelousy have better reviews than FF XIII
