PG Wing Zero Custom questions

Hey all,
Classes are finally over, but it was also time to register haha. With that being said, I went to my local hobby shop and came across a PG Wing Zero Custom and instantly wanted it at a decent price of 149.99 usd. I asked for it to be put on hold while I did some research, and I already came across lots of negative issues concerning this model. Among them, there were lots of problems concerning frailty of pieces, lack of stability, and over complicated builds. I think the complexity is to be expected since its a PG model and the stability shouldnt be an issue with an action base, or in my case, tying it to the ceiling somehow. Frailty is expected out of models since you shouldnt treat these as toys or action figures. But even so, I still think its better to get advice from people who actually built, and own a PG Wing Zero Custom. So can anyone give me any feed back or info concerning this awesome looking model ? I looked at dalong but I wanted something I can read in detail. Thanks ! And happy holidays to all !

The only thing I remember being an arse on the PG wing zero was the wiring for the light up chest.Other than that, it's pretty solid. Not as great as more recent PGs but still good.
It's also very back heavy so don't be surprised if you end up using the wings to support a bit of the weight.
Can you elaborate about the light ? I heard it was something about the wires not fitting or something.
The wiring for the LEDs are held together by screws, and the screws, for both head and chest LEDs, can get loose very easily. easiest way to rectify this issue is to make sure u have a lot of wire tied around the screws, but you also have to be conservative with the said wires because the kit doesn't come with much of them. (you can always buy extra wires)
aside from the wiring, you can really tell that the kit is dated. there are a lot of weak points all around, for example, the knee armor piece can be broken fairly easily, the same goes for the backpack attachment and some joints. But it is still a nice kit, you just need to be careful when you are building it/know how to fix a piece if you break it.
Good luck on your gunpla, do post pics once you complete it =)
Thanks for the info ! Thats just what I was looking for. Im fairly sure now that I will be getting this next week. I think I can manage with the frailty of some pieces and have repaired some broken V-fins and other pieces too. As for the screws getting loose, I wonder if loctite can help solve that issue.
Great info! Thanks for starting this thread, I was actually going to buy Wing Zero PG myself.
This thread has got me thinking otherwise now, hmm....
I've had enough trouble with older kits having thin plastic at the joint areas.
The kit itself cannot hold a light to the newer PGs due to the older engineering. But that said, it is a very nice kit once completed and definitely is able to hold it's own. It is really top heavy due to the wings and pose-ability is limited (see my post with my WZC in my glass case, it just stands there).

The price is right and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Internal wise it is also not as detailed as the UC Perfect Grades. But AU Perfect Grades tend to have different priorities rather than realistic mechanics.
Oh yea forsure. I have a MG MK.II (not the 2.0) and the articulation and detail isnt as great. But in the case of Wing Zero Custom, Ill make an exception :]
Its pics such as this that makes me want a Wing Zero PG though.
Despite its dated engineering, its still a gorgeous kit no doubt.
Still can't decide if I want it still.
I have a PG wing zero custom, and it does suck pretty bad. But I also have PG wing zero custom pearl mirror coating version, and i must say that its a definite improvement over the old one. its still constructed the same way, its just the semi translucent plastic is a lot stronger, and it doesn't have any balancing issues. I also have a PG zaku 2, red frame, strike, 00 raiser, and soon to have a pg evangelion unit one.
The pearl coating is nice, but pricey. At least for me it is. Id get it if I had the cash. But at that price, I also considered that I can get 2 good MG models. And nice collection !
loctite would work ok if you need to remove the screws for any reason, otherwise, cyanoacrylate (superglue) works very well and is a "Permanent" fix. otherwise, if your mech is on "static" display, i.e. being hung from the ceiling, I wouldn't worry much about "frailty" Good luck, and have fun!
loctite for removing screws ? I used them on an old cars lug nuts to prevent the tires from being stolen since it makes them much harder to unscrew. Unless theres a different kind of loctite. But yea my soon to be mine Wing Zero will be hung up from the ceiling most likely. And Im sure Ill have fun over winter break with bayonetta and PG Wing zero !
Sorry for the old reply. I lurk DC.com and Figure FM most of the time.
I strongly agree, loctite is best for screws and bolts since its not permanent. Screws need to be removable to service the part in the future. Glue on screws ruined my older models.
Not sure if you assembled your kit yet but tell us what you love about your PG Wing Zero.
