MG Blue Frame Custom: Silver Striker
Booyah! Hey kids! Here's my MG Blue Frame re-imagined with a different color scheme. I was going for a more "deadly steel warrior" feel when I decided to paint this. I was originally gonna do the reverse and do a metallic black inner frame (or perhaps gunmetal?) and silver armor. No doubt some parallels with the T-800 Terminator were drawn while I was building this. The Tamiya Spray colors used here were Gunmetal, Mica Red, NATO Black and Gloss Aluminum (ok so, technically it's not silver, but don't be too prissy).
More pics and a few words can be found at my rarely updated blog of doom http://necrophadian.blogspot.com/2009/12/silver-striker.html

My favorite weapon in action

I am aware that you can see a little bit of the blue left over from the original plastic color. Curse me for not using primer when I needed it the most. This is probably the last kit i paint using spray cans. Promised myself the next gunpla related purchase would be an airbrush kit.

Yowza! I like the feel of it! Red, black and silver are a nice combination. I may consider using a primer for my next mod too, I guess ^^;
Can't wait to see what you'll concoct up next.
it looks sort of like the top of the head isn't pushed down all the way, other than that, I think it looks really nice, I didn't even notice blue left over
Thanks, the little dude actually has his head pushed all the way down already. The neck is also pretty thin and long.
Heresy! Why use Char's Action Base!!1
But seriously.. Nice job done on painting the kit.
err...because I'm a cheap bastard who doesn't buy any action bases?
Nice paints huh..the spray paints i use to do my MG 2nd R is only 2 cans..(very wasted for 12 frames)..looks good to you.
I feel the face mask should be in silver as well as the lower chest plate... But the rest is superb!
Are these picture distorted in proportion?
Coupled with the improved Blue Frame design I'd say it looks like a human-sized combat roobt. :)
i like the darkness atmosphere emitted by ur custom blue frame ^^
Not bad. It's like east meets west if you know what I mean. ^_^
Nicely done.
The articulation's not bad!
That looks pretty bad ass man :D Maybe you should paint the beams red or something cause pink kinda kills the mood >___<
Just my kind of colors. If they won't be releasing another Astray variation I might opt in getting another Blue Frame (someone's selling me one for 2K PHP).
Anyways great stuff here, man. The paint-job is slick. I'm checking out the fingers coz those were my problem areas and I see you did wonderful on 'em.
Again, great job on this one.
Astray Blue Frame still "showing its true colors" just kidding. XD Had this happened to me on my MG Astray.
The head seems to be slightly longer...
Anyway, great work u have ^^
Hi necrophadian,
Nice work! I love the aluminium silver. Just wondering, is that the Tamiya TS17 spray paint you have used? Also, what type of top coat you have applied?
Thanks.
thanks. to answer, no i haven't applied topcoat on this kit yet. and yes that is TS-17 aluminum silver
What paint do you use? I was thinking of Krylon, but I don't know if it has led. Can you please tell me? I would love it if you could send me the link to get it from Amazon, because I JUST ordered Blue frame Revised MG two days ago! THanks!
are you asking if the kit has an LED? i dont quite understand what you mean. as for paints. it's Tamiya spray cans. aluminum silver, flat black, light gunmetal and mica red. I got all my paints from a local anime store but it should be easy to find these in amazon.
amazon does not have them. However, tamiya, the actual company's website, does. Aluminum silver and a few of the cans you mentioned aren't available. Krylon is another spray paint brand. I mean Lead. Sorry, my fault.
how did you manage to get your gundam to hold its sword??
if you're referring to the last pic, it's actually resting on its back. it's damn near impossible for it to hold on its own
that's a nice metallic look for your gundam. How did you paint the frame? I did paint my Sinanju MG frame but the joint got very tight after that. A little advice, please.
