Farewell to the Year of the Ox!
The year of the Ox has ended, but these lovely cow girls wanted to say a final goodbye before the tigers come out and play!
These postcards are part of a ten card set that Toranoana sold last year for the New Year. I really wonder if anyone in Japan actually mails these. I can't imagine what my postman would think seeing these in my mailbox...
This illustration is by Santa Tsuji (津路参汰), a Nitroplus artist and character designer for Sumaga.
This one is by Carnelian, with whom I'm sure everyone is familiar.
This one is by Ozawa Akifumi; the character designer for Unionshift games like Chu x Chu Idol and Unity Marriage.
And you can kind of tell, but this one is by Shimada Humikane, the character designer for Strike Witches and creator of Mecha Musume :D
And this last one is by Tomose Shunsaku, whose art has been everywhere this past year. To see the rest of this set, check out my site!

This one reminds me of Tsukasa Jun's Hanako-san.
Makes you wonder why they still call these postcards, eh? Might as well call them 'image cards' or something... :p

I wonder where I can buy the 2009 set. I already went and ordered the 2010 set.
Does Toranoana sell them in three different set types each year?
I don't recall seeing one before 2009, but there was only one set for last year. This year, they just went overboard with the 30 cards XD
True (^^;) What to do with 30 postcards, I don't even know. I'm looking forward to the Tsuji and Tomose illustrations as they are among my favorite artists. It's unfortunate I won't be able to participate in the lottery (xx) As long as I don't know what the prizes are, I would be content. Ignorance is bliss.
If by chance you see a 2009 set on sale anywhere, mind dropping a notice? (>^^)> I check your site daily, yours and Pireze to be exact since you two are the only blogs I know of that covers art books and doujinshi.

I'll let you know if I spot it on sale again ^^ Chances are probably low until they release the next year's batch though, but I check out the Toranoana site pretty often ^^;
