2009, the year of Gundam

Konnichiwa minna-san! Akemashite omedetou gozaimasu!! Happy new year to you all! I wanted to share some thoughts with you guys. First of all, for me, 2009 was the year of Gundam. I've been a fan of this universe for about 10 years now and I have to say that I was immensely pleased this year with how the 30th anniversary turned out. Went to Japan for the second time and this time it was to see a life-size RX-78-2 Gundam, what could I've had asked more?? (sorry for my bad English, I'm french-Canadian) Sadly I didn't have the time to post my entry in time for the AFA world Gunpla competition. So I will share with you what I would have entered. Feel free to C&C. It's my most prized model of all. I wish Bandai could make a MG of this suit. ( I have the ver.Ka of this but I like the anime design more, it has a special meaning to me...)

This was on July 11th, the opening ceremony day at Odaiba. Maximum zoom with the Lumix-LX3 and a bit blurry but still, I like this pic with the bird flying by. If you ask me, don't use the digital zoom, instead crop your pics or post process them for a better result. It's still nice to experience tho.

I tried to open the cockpit hatch and climb aboard but was closely watched by the cops...

It kinda holds its own very good and has a nice balance but since it's not a MG, it has no inner-frame and is very light.

I had forgotten how good the Wing Gundam looked until I saw your pictures. Used to have a kit when I was young, but it didn't last long. :/

Bandai and Sunrise did make the year one that would be remembered by us as full of Gundam. First the end of 00 S2, then the announcement of the 00 movie and Unicorn OVA, and finally the release of numerous Gundam-related goods.

Here's to another year of Gundam goodness.

Hmm, since I won't be seeing a MG version of this suit I recently bought another one to try and make it as close to a Master Grade as possible. I will be getting an airspray and more tools to perfect some techniques. Can't wait to start working on it!! Good luck with yours!! Ganbatte!!!
