Gifts from a Japanese Otaku

Posted by ahbonk [www]

During my one-year stay here in Japan, I got to know a few Japanese otakus. One in particular invited me to his house last Sunday in Yamanashi, a small town 2 hours away from Tokyo.

He was so impressed by my knowledge in anime (he tested me on titles, story, characters, even Miku song titles!) that he gave me these bunch of figures for free! I'm so thankful for this loot coz most of my money goes into the daily expenses here rather than figures.

He's actually very good in UFO catchers (5 times, tops!) so he collects figures that are easy to catch and puts them in a storeroom in his house.

From those treasures, he gave some to me :3

He insisted that I bathe with Mio, even after I told him I brought my own towel ^^;;

    Ooh!!! Nice grabs. Connections is Key as I always say.

    During my short 1 week stay in Japan, I 'wasted' 3000 yen on those UFO Catchers and failed to catch even one thing. (TT.TT) I know how Kagami feels now...

      I have heard that UFO Catchers are fairly easy to do . If You know The trick .

      I have this one Vid to show you but I can't find it >.<

      The trick is simple , You just have to push the item with the Crane beside the hole , that way You can get it pretty easily but If theres No Item that is near the hole that you wanted .

      You can ask The Manager to put the item near the hole , so that You can push it with your crane to the hole . I was shocked at the fact that you can tell the manager to do that , for an easy win .

        Is it the one with the lady that can bag nearly anything from giant boxes (bubblegum machine I think) to towels? That is some amazing skill there. (^.^)

        My friend taught me that it's a combination of pulling and pushing, but easier said than done. For him, the aiming part is already mastered coz he's already used to the length of the arms, but for the rest of us we still need to aim :P

    If I was one of your otaku friends I would be a little disappointed that you hadn't taken any out of their boxes. :(

    I have a question that you guys might be able to help me with on here. I am looking for the VOLKS 1/6 Holo/Horo fig from Spice and Wolf and I have been told you can only get it in Japan. I have to have this figure. I don't really want to get it on E-bay so I am asking for help with other options. Please help. Must have this fig. I am also looking for the FREEing Nagato 1/4 bunny. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Keith
