GANTZ Live Action Movie

Finally the teaser trailer is out! Fans has been waiting for many years for the live action adaption on this bad-ass series, I hope it will live up to the high expectation based from the manga. It will be a 2-parts movie release, first part in January 2011 & second part in Spring 2011.

This movie is budget at 4 billion Yen (USD45 million) directed by Shinsuke Sato (The Princess Blade, Oblivion Island: Haruka & the Magic Mirror), CG by Digital Frontier (Summer Wars, Death Note, Appleseed), starring high profile superstars Matsuyama Kenichi [松山 ケンイチ] (L from the Death Note) as Masaru Kato & Ninomiya Kazunari [二宮 和也] as Kei Kurono.

If you like guro type like Elfen Lied, then I highly recommend GANTZ for your joy reading. Although the anime version is not as gruesome as the manga, it's still good.

I watched the anime and I hated the ending but the ball thing with the music I really enjoyed.
I might have to start reading the manga and I guess I'll watch the film.

the mange gets much much more cooler and better than the anime. The anime is just like a small "preview" of the manga really.

Manga is great. The anime is great until it deviates from the manga (big shock).

But I don't know about this. Japan isn't too good at transitioning from anime to live action.

This is a must watch for me!

The manga series has been one of my favorites, though, I haven't enjoyed the last few chapters as much as the previous 300 or so ^^.

Gantz if one of my favorites mangas and, though I don't think that this two movies will be great if we thought about japanese live action movies, I'll be watching it when the time comes.

I like how nearly every big budget Anime movie, Death Note, DMC, etc... had Matsuyama Kenichi in it. (^.^;)

Also, I have FAITH in this, because it's a Japanese production, not a shitty Hollywood Adaptation.

I agree with you completely...I believe one manga...that needs an anime adaption and possibly a live action movie is Akumetsu (info here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akumetsu )well, maybe not a live action but still an anime series...Love the manga

they should have remade the Anime and completed it... with that kinda money they could have done that -_- the Gantz Anime was lame, they ended it far too soon.. I'll watch this movie but i would have enjoyed a longer Anime.. ended it just as Kurono started to get cool, then you read the Manga and it turns out to be 1 of the greatest manga out.

its like the creators felt discouraged to continue, when their Anime didn't get big.. but they didn't get to the good parts yet! everything picks up after all the first people die in the Manga, but they end the Anime before Kurono does his cool stuff... the Anime ends with Kurono as a freaking Douche.

if you started reading the Manga at the point the Anime ends you'll see Kurono finds true happiness and friends and he doesn't seem like such a *insert worst insult here* if this live action movie is just a Live action version of the Anime I'm gonna be pissed and i refuse to follow Gantz any longer. i demand to see the "SSJ4 Kurono" not the freaking Panzy douche they show at the beginning of Gantz.

We completely have the exact same thought! I can't stand Kurono in the beginning of the manga & in anime, he's just a gundamn douchebag in the arse.

I stopped the manga at chapter 263, not sure how the story is going now.

One of the cool things in the manga at the beginning was to watch Kurono evolve from a total ass self centered perverted teen into a really cool guy who truly cares about others. I think it made his character much more believable than those stereotypical "I want to be a hero" teen characters in so many anime.

that's true, but the Anime never let Kurono evolve. I'm just saying if the Live action movie does the same as the Anime and cuts off before he can evolve its gonna be real annoying, i already watched Kurono be a Douche in Anime and then i had to go read it in Manga, i don't need to watch it acted out by real actors.. -_- (i get it already)

I don't really expect this to become better than the manga (manga is way too good) but hope it will have cool fight scenes and a better ending than the anime. I'll sure watch it.

Hmm, well most people that have commented here have pretty much summed up my entire thoughts, So i guess I shall just have to wait for the movie and watch it, I'm not expecting anything great... i have a feeling it shall be a big let down. Though i still love the manga. One of my favorites.
