MG Zaku II Ver.2.0

While users here build beautiful kits like the PG 00 Raiser, MG Ex-S or Sinanju, I look on with envy. Too poor to afford them, I settled for a Zaku II instead.

this is cool.
Thanks to a little hand painting.
Never look down on de ZAKU!!! if there were Version 2.0 sold here in my area.. id buy it rather than a PG 00 Raiser... ones currently sold here are Gundam Seed and Destiny Kits, and Gundam 00 Kits...
I saw an AcGuy and a Guntank sold here.. but.. i cant afford it...
I can totally relate to your pain of having to control expenses as a student. I'd like to own a few more figures or Gundam kits too, but I have to restrain myself many times.
Awesome Zaku II, This is my favorite mobile suit from the original series...way better than the gm...not as good as the Gundam though...Awesome!
Thanks! I kinda like the GM too but the anime-accurate kits in the case of the Gundam and GM Ver.2.0 don't really float my boat.
Owwhh man! your Weather Effect are perfect "^______,^"
Thanks! It's my first time doing weathering on a kit, and I've only used a paintbrush and one Tamiya Weathering Master set to do it.
very very nice..:D
the weathering you did is just perfect, not less, not too much, just right..:D
I think being a little bit perfectionist at this modeling thing helped a little in controlling the amount of dirt going on to the kit. I prefer the pristine look with decal spam like Katoki's Fix Figuration, but I thought a pristine Zaku shouldn't look right.
SUUUUPAAAAAA
INAZUMAAAAAA
KIIIIIIIICKUUUU
Noriko, let's show Gunbuster's power!
Understood, onee-sama!
Now all that's left is to imagine that it's Char and Ramba saying thouse lines instead. XD
great photos, makes me want to buy this fellow . . . :D
I'd say this Zaku is worth its price. There's some nice engineering going on inside and when you build it, it feels like you're actually constructing a Zaku, building something more than just a model kit. When I was finishing the kit and assembling the armour pieces over the inner frame, I was (besides being overly excited) impressed with how things came together.
Of course, being a Ver.2.0 means it has some impressive articulation, but the side skirts can pop off a little easily when doing kneeling or splayed-leg poses, so one may need to be careful with them.
Holy crap some detailing went into that!! It looks so freakin' awesome....
And good sir, you do not simply 'settle' for a Zaku... you should worship the Zaku! SIEG ZEON! *salutes*
lol I love Zeon suits. I have this one and the Char version. Ver 2 ofc. Green is still in his box, Char's is in the process of being built lol.
Sieg Zeon! Well you're right, what's a Gundam collection without a Zaku in it? I shall take back my word that I "settled" for it. It really is a brilliant kit. I followed the advice of some Anonymous on a certain image board. I was incredibly tempted to get Char's Zaku instead. Looks like you have the best of both worlds.
nice zaku there
Thanks!
I'm working on a PG Zaku II at the moment :D Your weathering effects are pretty amazing too ^^
A PG Zaku. Wow... I'm not sure about its articulation since it's a pretty old kit and looks really similar to the old MG versions, but I'm sure it could look decent with an updated set of decals like the MG Ver.2.0 instead of the old original ones.
Awesome weathering. By hand with an almost dry brush?
The silver streaks were drybrushed. Yes, a large paintbrush with almost all its paint wiped away.
The dirt, most noticeable on the legs, was added using Tamiya Weathering Master Set A. Well worth the price of 600 yen. Just dust the color onto the model. The surface has to be matte for the powder to hang on to. After that, give it another layer of matte.
It's hardly noticeable but some spots were given rust streak effects using thinned Tamiya Enamel Brown and Black mixed together. I brushed streaks and wiped most of them off with a cotton bud damp with thinner and dirty from the paint.
Give it a shot!
