Battle damaged 1/144 HG Exia

Posted by Obe-Kun

This Exia was from my cousin... They OOTB build this and it wasnt built right(lots of numbs) and played with it like a robot toy... So lots of parts were lost and broken. I found this poor Exia in their toy box so I asked them if I can have it. And they gave it to me.

I has lots of broken parts and lost parts that it was impossible to make it shine once again. So I thought maybe I should practice battle damage on it.. And... here is the result... C&C will be very much appreciated... ^_^

I suggest a bit more discoloration on some parts and weathering on some of the parts. ;)

Amazing what you can do with a red-hot wire, a magnifying lens and some electrical wire! I've used candle smoke and gunpowder to thicken up blast marks before. *DO NOT try at home!!* 0.O

I suggest, do it! MAKE your own exia repair.....
Exia is so popular...so customizable. ^^

get you some spray paint - black, gray - toothbrush for spatter (test first for effect) spray your paint on a cardboard to make a puddle and dip the toothbrush bristles - SPATTER by rubbing the bristles against a plastic knife or something. give that bugger a blast of gray first, you know, random like . . .:O

I was thinking more into the battle damage when its still currently in battle. Maybe rust effects are a little too early when the gundam is still in battle..

@Wannable: if it still had both hands then Exia Repair would be a good choice.. but alas... no hand and a huge amount of lost parts...

ah! but lest you forget, setsuna managed to survive using any salvaged parts available...let's say the tieren's head that gave the terminator effect! Why not make it like that?

Add more weathering effects, and you would be able to imitate a completely wrecked Exia.

If it's possible to dull the colors on this, witha bit of putty or something like it you might even be able to make a diorama out of it.

D: WHAT HAPPENED TO THE VFINNN?!!!?!?! the damage effect is quite nice, but like the others said, it's not dirty enough. Also, I think you should have left SOME of the V-Fin intact. It's barely a gundam anymore D':

I like the weathering effect, too. Gives it that certain "pop".

And that white peg on the right-arm. You can either gray or silver it to imitate a hydraulic joint connection or something.

Little fuzzy on the update pics, but the smoke damage does look good. I agree that the pin/peg could be used as a hydraulic ram and be hilighted. possibly with some red fluid or such. some more exposed wiring/cables could work, too... Use your best judgement and don't overdo things... sometimes, less is more.... great job so far...
