ORX-005 Gaplant TR-5 [Hrairoo]

Posted by Tachikaze

This kit was acquired in December and I completed it a few days ago. This is only my second 1/144 kit, I'm more of a MG person but I couldn't resist this. All the protrusions and thrusters make this a very unique mobile suit. The fact that it has a mono-eye and a V-fin makes it even more unique. It is very impressive for a 1/144, the box is the same size as a 1/100 NG and the overall construction had a MG-ish feeling to it. This kit does require a bit a paint to make it look like the box art. Since it is a transformable mobile suit, its articulation suffers a bit, but it looks fine just standing still (like MG Unicorn). I never bothered with the transformation because it required part swapping and I didn't sharpen the transformed V-fins. What do you guys think?

Awesome sticker design, if I have time I might get some water slides.

I have never seen this kit locally, and I took me awhile to actually find one from a trusted source online.

Well if you're in America, finding one is particularly easy. They're usually more expensive than any HG in existence, even the Psycho and the NZ-666, though. About seventy-something.

wow, you must be getting totally ripped off. TR-5 Hrairoo should only run for about $25 at most. the other Gaplant kit (with the booster) will run around $30, nowhere near the price of the Psycho Gundam or Kshatriya.

That might warrant a buy, thus spending more money and this is already a high priced 1/144 orz

Nice kit! I read through the production story between Bandai and Dengeki Hobby back then. Dengeki Hobby team actually give a lot of advice to Bandai to ensure the kit is done up to modeller's demand (like reduce seamline, more parts seperation, better details)

I'm looking for Advanced of Z series too! Arghh I regret didn't buy Advance Hazel, Hazel, GM quel and Hrairoo back then :(
