Radiant Photoshop: L's Darkness

Is there a dark side to L?

Everyone knows L as a man with a sense of justice. But I can't help but think that there is a dark side to him that he hides well. This is my representation of L in a moment of darkness.

Nothing extra on the blog post except a 1280 wallpaper, and stuff that happened this week.

Overall, this painting took about 2 hours to do. Quite happy with the result with the whole dark brooding feel for L. Maybe I should have added some color to heighten the mood?

I'm kinda glad I kept the line art too. When I went back to look at the video, the line art has quite a different feel to the end result!

Using a mouse to draw like that might be tiring, did you use anything beside mouse?

      I don't use a mouse. I use a tablet. It's way easier. It would take forever if I used a mouse. ^^

I really enjoyed watching the video. It's like watching art come to life. You're so talented! You should make a photobook or portfolio showcasing your work. :D

Thanks Amrita! I'm always happy to see you comment. And that's actually a good idea! (you've got a lot of good ideas!) I'm gonna look into my artwork and see if I have enough stuff to make a photobook or something. ^^

Love the vids! Checked out the site and read. So how would you say the manga compares to the anime? For me the anime was quite gripping but, haven't read the manga yet.

Hi Heavy! Thanks for checking out my site! I haven't watched the anime, but I found the manga quite gripping. ^^
I guess I'll have to watch the anime and you'll have to read the manga! ^_^

Excellent. You've chosen the shades of grey very well, so I don't think colour is essential.

Thanks koganinjastyle! Maybe you're right. The grey lends itself to the stark "noir" feel to it quite nicely. Color may actually distract from it. I always tend to over-experiment on stuff and sometimes it ends up ruining the piece in the end. I'll take your advice and just leave it as is. ^^
