MG Strike Freedom Gundam

Posted by GundamJehutyKai [www]

With a nickname like mine, I don't think I have an excuse not to enter, even though I have no chance of winning.
I should also be upfront, I don't currently have access to many of my gundam kits as seen in the last pic of my otacool room submission. so this is more of a best of the rest, but it's also one which I did some work on so it's not a complete loss.
Had I been able to get to my entire collection, I probably would have gone for MG freedom or PG GP01 Zephyranthes as my choice, but I hope you enjoy my strike freedom in their stead.

I made a few changes to my Strike Freedom. The first of which is pretty obvious.
I absolutely loathed the gold joints seen in the anime so I decided to do something about it after seeing this photoshopped pic (the original had the gold joints)

Though I decided to keep some areas gold for dramatic effect.

otherwise, it was a pretty straightforward build. Like some other entrants, I prefer to stick to the clean "anime" look to my kits so I tend to not put decals on my works.

I did 2 very simple mods to the kit. Firstly, I separated the fingers on the hands to improve articulation. Very easy to do in the later kits.

the second was that I put some brass tubes into the ends of the DRAGOONs to give them an aperature for the beams to actually come out of.

No SF photoshoot would be complete without one of these pics

And a couple of action shots with my destiny gundam to finish. I liked this scene, tho Infinite justice had better ones.

well, a similar amount of work was done on it. But mostly, I just much prefer freedom so it's a personal thing.

I wonder how people would have reacted if I displayed my MG GP01-fb? That was my first kit way back in 1996. IT's so old, that the plastic has discoloured a little!!

Actually, no. It's just Citadel white primer and then matt topcoat. I only wanted to lessen the "plastic" look which the gunpla often end up with, esp when they are mostly white.

Is this Full Burst Mode version or the normal version?

Originally, full burst. I still have the plated parts left over from my build. The action stand is the Full burst exclusive and I don't think the regular version gives the tubes to allow you to hold up the DRAGOONs

I didn't mind that the regular version didn't have the tubes, but I was very annoyed that the gold parts wasn't as shiny as the Full Burst version >_<

well, even with the full burst version, only some parts were gold plated (the elbows, knees, hands and dragoon connectors). all the rest was still that puke yellow colour. Didn't matter in the end since I repainted the entire inner frame, but I kept the plated parts.

more like I couldn't. At least for the destiny action shot. The 2 were closer than they appeared so extending the railguns would have pushed destiny away, and the pose was a little unstable as it was!

I don't think the railguns are "that" long...

Still prefer the original Freedom's Railgun cum side skirt design tho... Looks more natural than Strike Freedom's...

like I said, the pic is a bit misleading. The railguns are actually pointing more towards the center of the body than the pic suggests. I could have adjusted the whole body to make it better, but the sword for destiny was a nightmare to work with...

I pretty much prefer everything of Freedom over SF, although the railgun mechanism was a little annoying. Much simpler on strike freedom but I do agree that it loses something in the process.

hmm, Kanu is OK, but I'm more of a fan of Ryofu Hosen. (that's if you're talking abour ikkitousen. If you're on about koihime musou, then yeah, definitely Kanu)
