Repaired figma Canaan

Posted by Bio Toxic [www]

Hey again all.

I thought I would update you on my progress with my broken Canaan. For those who remember I recently broke my figma Canaan moments after taking her out the box. Previous Post

I took both varutieru & Mr. Kammys' advice and tried to repair her.

Finding all the parts was not easy. 1mm drills, pin vices and nails/pins are not common round here. Even in our giant shopping centre! After giving up looking in local shops I just ordered online.

I began by drilling 2 small holes in Canaans' ball joint and arm. I then inserted a paper clip instead of a 1mm nail. I was hesitant at first, but this turned out to be surprisingly strong.

Full drill bits don't make good pins :P

Before super gluing I found out why her arm snapped. The joint between her body and arm had seized up. So when I "thought" I was moving her arm up and down I was infact bending her arm joint up and down. Sadly this means even after this repair I still am unable to fully use Canaans' arm correctly. Any suggestions on how to fix a seized joint?

I then finished by super gluing the paper clip to her ball joint; and then her arm.

Ta-da :D

I still have some movement on her arm. It can spin round on the ball joint; but moving up and down is limited.

Nice Job! I ought to try this out also whenever I'm in the same predicament. It happened a long while ago with my Miyuki figma. I didn't know any better back then and I superglued the heck out of it, and now I was left with her shoulder and upper arm in a permanent position...T_T
I had a spare Miyuki around to play with so I wasn't entirely devasted.

If there was a way to remove the whole joint and disassemble it, maybe a touch-up with some emery cloth might smooth things out a bit, but, not having a figma/revoltech jointed small figure to abuse, I don't have any "real" suggestions. Sorry... *won't ask anyone here to "volunteer" any of their old figures in the name of progress, I know it won't happen o.O*

I've never have any broken cases.. I thought simply apply glue should do the job but then I learn something from your post.
    Thanks a lot Bio Toxic..

Paper Clips rock! Even Macgyver used it alot, hehehe ^_^
