Freeing/Figma Ex ride vintage scooters
Hello everyone, I recieved my first order from Amiami. I learned a very expensive lesson from this experience with Amiami. I initially requested for SAL shipping, but unfortunately They said that my order was too big to be sent by SAL. It arrived in a massive box, quite well packaged I might add, and after removing all the packing material, I am left with a small box with 5 small scooters inside. I actually paid 4300 yen for ems for this, the item is worth 5600+yen (strike one!). Since it was sent by EMS it has charge me written all over it, I had to fork out £26 for this. All in all £69 for scooters and shipping and £26 for charges = £95 very expensive indeed. I'll probably stick with my old supplier HW japan who has never let me down, and will try to save you much money on postage because they SAL almost everything, and SAL by personal experience usually gets thru without charges.
Back to the scooters. They really nice painted up in gloosy pearl color. I opened the white scooter because it reminds me of Gin-sans ride (must get decals for it). I let Saber and Shiro have a first crack at the scooters, but as I was posing them for the photo shoot, the handle bars broke off. Analyzing the plastic, the connection is just flimsy, so I had to do some pinning and gluing. it's as good as new now, but considering the price and the maker, I am a bit diappointed with the quality, considering it is a toy to be played with. I am now regretting getting this set now, as it has cost me so much to get and I let down by poor quality material. Hopefully the next wave of Figma Ex-ride set would be better made as I have also pre-ordered them.
Here are a couple of pictures chronicling my exploits this morning. Photos were taken with my Sony Ericcson C905, as I do not own a snazzy DSLR yet.

Man that stinks it broke so quickly. But I'd say it was almost worth it just to take those awesome pics.
I guess Shirou used his "Trace On" to strengthen the joints.
Lol, what s/he said about it being worth it since you took some nice pictures. Though, I hope this forces whoever makes parts for Figmas to take more care or else sales would drop.
Hm... Thanks for the pics! This is the first time I'm seeing the packaging and it's pretty sweet. But since the scooters aren't from any Anime series, I'll have to pass them over.
Actually the scooter is similar to Sakata Gintoki's scooter, I may need to add a single side mirror on the left handlebar though. Now I got the scooter, Max factory if you are listening please make a Sakata Gintoki figma.
Too bad it broke, but at least you managed to fix it :) None of mine are broken....yet!
Thats good to hear, looks like I have to be more careful with the others.
Wow... Materials these days... ^^;
LOL
I could see these sell for $20 USD here in Arizona, *each* so, I can't say you really lost on shipping = cost... (I don't know the conv. rates) But, I will say I'm disappointed in the manufacture of a "play"-able item.... I'm glad you were able to fix it, I just hope the others aren't as bad....
Aaargh!!! (knife thru the heart!).XD
Yeah it's true, I was expecting it to be made of sterner stuff, but in a way pinning it has now made it more playable now.
