Avatar at the Golden Globes

Posted by bookindian [www]

Well, Avatar won the Golden Globe - there was a look of shock on many faces in the audience.
3+ hours on my butt? I think not, I will just take my Neyti"s (my pet name for Neytiri) top off and let her sit unfettered by my monitor as I work.

I was going to see the movie, but I don't want to torture my butt for a redo of Ferngully, Dances with Wolves, and Code Lyoko . . . I'm going to wait for release of the DVD. I posted some stuff on www.bookindian.wordpress.com.

funny, you own the toy and mention it's a re-do yet have still to see the movie. going by word-of mouth here? also it's your loss if you just watch this in DVD. this is one movie experience that has to be seen in a theatre

I enjoy watching movies in my home theater system, rather than watching it outside. I don't quite like all the sounds made by other movie-goers. >_< Sometimes you miss hearing lines because of this.
It's all a matter of personal preference right?

I prefer watching at home as well - not a fan of cinemas at all - but even I have to admit that Avatar simply must be seen at a cinema while you have the chance, especially for the 3D version.

Heavens forbid, some people like to wait 3-6 months for an anticipated movie to show up on disk ;P

a bird in tha hand, neh?? I looked at episode 89, video 3 of Code Lyoko and saw this guy jump on the back of a flying manta ray sort of like those flying things in Avatar . . . basically I wanted to see Zoe Saldana is skimpies but she was a no show.

Woo boy I watched it twice. I've had enough of that one for a very VERY long time. It just does not have the same re-watchatability (thats a legit word right?) as starwars ep 4,5,6.

yep, watchability was just added to the dictionary. yeh, 3 hours is a looong time - Star Wars I watch on T.V. whenever one of the episodes is on and got a collection on DVD too. great stuff.

I totally agree.. I've seen it twice now and the second time seemed to go on forever >_<

The plot just seems so played out already that it makes the entire viewing experience sooo predictable

I saw Inglorious Basterds, and it was complete junk. Why do so many people think it was good? Does killing Nazis really quintuple popularity for a movie? Seriously, it's going to win an Oscar at this rate.

Tarantino's kinda lost the edge after jackie brown.

Junk? That's definitely a matter of opinion. It's not the "killing Nazis" part that makes Inglorious Basterds an incredible movie.. it's the witty script, epic plot, unbelievable acting performances by everyone in the movie( notably- Christoph Waltz, Melanie Laurent, Brad Pitt, and Michael Fassbender), and not to mention the gorgeous cinematography and soundtrack. The entire production is a thing of beauty, and that movie will forever be one of my favorites next to Tarantino's Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction which are both equally incredible. You can easily ask the same question about Avatar, why does everyone like it so much? The plot is an overly preachy rip-off of Ferngully and Pocahontas. The only positives I can think of are the music score and CGI.. other than that it's nothing special IMO.

just to make things a bit more confusing - I wasn't eagerly awaiting Avatar, I wanted to see Zoe Saldan flitting about almost naked (WTF did she do to reap all this hype anyway?)but I find out that Neytiri is REAL avatar, all CGI (except for tha voice) and then I spot Neytiri figure at the Kmart and decide this is tha real deal, poo on tha movie. Besides, I can cast-off my Neytiri's clothes !!!!!!!!!! :D bye . . .
