Experimenting with the new camera

Finally had some time to play around with my new Sony A330 DSLR. The photo of my "armoury" was taken with the Kodak point and shoot (7 mp), the rest is with the Sony.

As you can see, this Alpha has a brown lens and superstructure. I didn't know it was a different colour from the display unit (which was black) until I unpacked it at home. Not complaining though, I like the different look. Also in the picture are the two lenses from my old Maxim 7000 35mm. The larger one is a 35-105mm zoom, and the smaller is a 28mm wide angle. Due to the smaller size of the sensor, these won't give me quite the same images as the 35mm, but as they will work with the Sony, I've saved some money not having to replace them.
Also in the pick are the manual, battery charger, lens and body covers, and USB cable.

This is with the stock kit lens that came with the Sony, an 18-55mm AF lens.
This image was taken without flash, but with a reflector (white cardboard)
My newest members of my family, Saber and Kagami, are going to be the models today. :)

And this was taken with the 28mm wide angle lens. The older Minolta lenses are quite a lot heavier that the Kit lens. Not surprising, given that they are almost 30 years old. I was going to try out the 35-105, but it's got to be further back, around 6 feet, for the lens to focus correctly. (I was crowding out the door. )
Things to note: The Kodak C713 generates images that are 3056 x 2292 with JPGs around 850K file size in default mode. The Alpha in JPG mode generates files 3872 x 2592 at 2.8mb.
I resized these down to 1.5mb so as to not push at Danny's 3mb image limit.
The Sony is a 10.2mp camera
I'm still getting use to the new camera, so I'm trying to figure out what settings will give me the best images.. More to come. ^_^::
