Toranoana Touhou 2010 Calander Review
Hands down the best Japanese anime calender I have ever bought.
This is the 2010 Tora no Ana calender that was on sell in early January 2010 in Tora no Ana stores in Japan. I wanted to review this one to help those visiting and who are in Japan make an informed purchase but also to share this wonderful calender with those who are not.

The cover features Remilia and Sakuya and is the one you will want to keep a look out for. Glad they put the title in English, wish more would do this. ^_^
These were taken with my camera but they came out pretty darn good. I don't have a scanner on the ship in Yokosuka.

For those not familiar, Japanese anime/game calenders are much more about art work and less about the actual calender. ^^; Usually, there will be a very large image and a very small monthly calender way at the bottom, as small as possible.

Reimu is for the month of January.
For a few of the images, I took a close up look to show print quality. All images are printed on very solid paper and the image quality was stunning.

February is Keine and Mokou....I think. I could very well be wrong. ^^;
I actually haven't played much Imperishable Night and am too focused on beating Subterranean Animism at the moment.

The colors on these prints were even better then what I find in most art books. Also, they are printed on very tough paper. There were no creases at all when I was done with this shoot.

March is extremely cool Youmu and Yuyuko art work and possibly my favorite image in the whole calender. Maybe I'm biased though because they are both growing on me.

A closer one without the crease.
The images in this calender are quite large and span two pages.

April is this nice Marisa and Reimu pic. I don't think my camera did justice with this one. ^^;

May is one of my favorite Touhou gals. Alice the doll puppeteer.

I like the change in art style from the usual large eyed moé style I usually find in Touhou art books. Surprised I said that having a site named Moé Passion. ^^;

June is an extremely beautiful Yukari art work that looks kind of like a painting.

A close up to show just how the colors looked upon close inspection.

July is one of my top favorite Touhou characters Byakuren. She is from the most recent (traditional) Touhou game, Undefined Fantastic Object.

Byakuren's name can be literally read "Saint of the White Lotus" in Japanese. That is why you see her with those white flowers. ^^

August is Yuka, a character from the original pre-windows Touhou games. I tried them once or twice but I had trouble seeing some of the projectiles. Very hard on the eyes. =_=

Her expression looks quite dangerous, just like her character. From what I've heard, she is quite powerful and sometimes called the Yukari of the pre-windows games.

September features the Lunarians Princess Kaguya, Udonge, and Tewi in an awesomely nice shot with the moon showing brightly in the background. My second favorite picture in the calender. ^^

October is a very innocent and young looking Sanae. ^^;
Sanae was quite ruthless in Touhou 12, so she's not on my favorite characters list yet (Reimu and Marisa weren't much nicer though. ^^;)

November is....I'm not quite sure. If that's Aya, where is her camera?

And lastly, December is a nice shot for fans of the Marisa X Patchouli pairing. I never really got into that pairing but have been a fan of Alice X Marisa for a long time. ^^

The last few pages after the calender seem to give a list of which artists did the art works with a brief explanation.

This was a loose paper that was included in the calender. Not sure if it's just an ad of not.
Hope you enjoyed my look at the 2010 Tora no Ana Touhou calender. It honestly couldn't be much better and I'm very happy with my 1,500 yen purchase. I do hope I'm in Japan long enough to buy the 2011 issue but that may be unlikely....

Woah, this thing is gorgeous. While I doubt this'll pass by seaside before the end of the year, one can hope. Personally, I wouldn't have minded paying sixty to seventy dollars for a calendar like this. Fifteen is a runaway deal.
awesome *_* I want this ;_;
Well, to be accurate, Touhou isn't an Anime, but it's a gorgeous calendar regardless.
Thought someone would say something after I read it again this morning. ^^;
I should change it to anime-style calendar. Although Touhou does have an anime ova episode and countless doujins, it is still primarily about the game.
