Madou Souhei Kleinhasa (NSFW) and Fortune Arterial game progress

In my last post on this topic, I talked about how I bypassed this regional protection scheme, by using the free Windows XP mode Japanese language edition, however that method is by no means perfect, most notably the color support is only up to 16bit and sound support also left a lot to be desired (a certain Austrian Otaku has pointed me in the right direction, which I will talk about in a little bit). After more thorough searches, I finally managed to locate a proper regional patch on a Chinese forum that will enable Madou Sohei Kleinhasa to run on a non-native Japanese OS (for whatever reason, it was never leaked back to the English forum such as Hongfire, no idea why it hasn’t happened yet).

Why do I care about this game so much you ask? Well, like I mentioned before, Triangle is quite famous for the line of Mahou Senhin games that I have been an advent follower for years. And when they come out with this gun packing mecha girls game, that is just not going to be missed!

Triangle is very famous for their “humiliation” genre but Kleinhasa took a completely different approach and has more “true love” elements in the game than most of their previous titles. But this is an eroge game after all, and what cannot be missed in a good eroge game is some good eroge scenes~

And true love endings, after all, this is considered a “True Love” game from Triangle point of view.

And I finally managed to finish the game yesterday so it’s time to move on to my next agenda…. Fortune Arterial from August Soft. A couple weeks ago, just when I was in the middle of searching for a patch to run Kleinhasa on my Windows 7, I picked up a nasty rumor that Fortune Arterial doesn’t run well in 64 bit OS…. I immediately scrambled to confirm the rumor and it was true… for the life of me I could not get Fortune Arterial to run! I honestly do not know what is the difference between Fortune Arterial and Moonlight Cradle… both from the same company, but I got Moonlight Cradle to work…. I tried installing it on Windows XP mode, while it installed and launched ok, the sound support was just awful and I don’t think I want to keep running the game with the jittering music. Then I remember a certain Austrian Otaku had suggested that I should look at Virtual box from Sun Microsystem, well, why not, since I am running out of ideas anyway. The result is quite impressive, not only does it provide more advanced emulation support, in terms of processor power (it’s fixed in Virtual PC), full 32 bit color and Windows DirectSound, which is what we really need to run majority of eroge games anyway.

Actually, as of the writing of this post Sun Microsystem has already been acquired by Oracle-the database giant, so hopefully they will continue to support such a great application. A list of supported operating system including various flavors of Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X and Windows.

I don't think I need to spend a lot of time introducing Fortune Arterial, one of the many great story visual novel from August Soft, maker of the Brighter than Dawning Blue visual novel.

So for the next couple of weeks, I will be focusing my effort to work on Fortune Arterial while waiting for the new Dollfie Dream info in Hometown Kyoto 7, only about a week away from the announcement now~
