Horo
Yay Horo! It's been awhile since I've done a costume from an anime (of course, I went and picked it based on a figure I had ;D) but I'm happy. I know it's a very simple costume, but I had such a great time wearing it. And it only took me a day to make the dress to boot ;D.
The more complex parts of the costume I can't even take credit for. My wonderful boyfriend took it upon himself to help me complete the costume in time for Anime South. He sculpted the tail out of foam, and I did the covering (with him watching over my shoulder, telling me when I was doing something wrong ;D). And he did the ears while I was out... wasting time and shopping. ^_^
I'm a very lucky girl!
The dress was made from a heavy cotton purchased at a local discount fabric store for only $2/yard, the light green trim is left over from my Deedlit costume. I was able to get the dark green ribbon at 50% off. The pouch, made from a scarp of fabric from a friend's steampunk costume. The leather and snaps for the anklet were 30% off the original price. I hand drafted the dress pattern, so no extra money there. The most expensive part was the white fur, which I had to get in town at $30 a yard for 1/3 of a yard. The red fox fur I purchased online for $8 / yard. The foam for the tail was $15. The wig, $35 (but free shipping!)
I'm just utterly shocked how little (in comparison) I spent on this costume!
