Teen from Japan writes book using her keitai (from Yahoo!)

Original link from Yahoo!

Just saw this on Yahoo! and just wanted to share it. A 15 year old girl from Japan has apparently written a book with her thumbs only. Of course on a cell phone if you think I meant she typed on a keyboard with just her thumbs. I think that's amazing that she has been successful on a book she created on her phone. Kudos for her. Link above.

I don't use my phone a lot for texting, but ever since I got my iPod touch, I use it to type some of my blogs as my best ideas usually come from me being away from the computer. You can visit some of my posts here at My Blog

What about you people in the DC.com community? Do you text so much on your phone that it's like you writing an essay worth of words everyday? I can't get used to typing on a phone keypad so I stick to the QWERTY keyboard.

Do you text on a mobile device?

    I'll say it. I'm awful at texting. My phone is just a regular 1-0 keypad, and I can't text worth a damn on it. I need a mini keyboard on my phone. >.<

      Wha-
      All you need is practice! I have near-perfect grammar on my 1-0 keypad, and I don't even text people. I write reminders.

    Sweet. I don't text too often, probably several times every couple of days. For the most part I like to be old fashioned and just call if its important but texting allows for quick small talk with a lesser commitment to the conversation so I'm getting more into the habit (^^;)

    My phone has a program that allows me to make create and store notes which I use to jot down phrases and quotes I think up. Sometimes I'll write down story line points for later use if pen/pencil and paper are absent.

    I text A LOT! My phone has an option where it can keep track of how many text messages you send, so I recorded it for a week. I averaged about 200 a day... :O

    Wow, this is pretty bad ass. I have a PDA that has a QWERTY keyboard, so it's pretty easy to type with my thumbs. But a novel? :P

    If she feels more comfortable working with a mobile phone, why not? There are still writers who prefer to use the typewriter or write on sheets of paper. It boils down to personal preference.

    When it comes to editing, nothing really compares to word processors in terms of efficiency though.

    I text so much ^^; Normally my texts are really long too, I try to keep them to just one, but a lot of the time they end up being two... or even three texts long for one message ^^;;
    I'm pretty speedy at typing too. On my old number-keypad phone I was a pro XD Since I've gotten a new phone with a slide QWERTY keyboard though, I'm having to relearn how to type quickly on it. After a few months now, I think I'm getting faster every day ^^

    We have no texting plan. Would cost too much. (My sister is a texting addict.)
