Question Regarding PG Astray
Thu 2009/07/30 11:08 JST

Ok so i bought a PG Astray a couple of weeks ago and i cant decide if i should paint it or just do panel lines and top coat. I thought this would be the best place to ask. All opinions and tips are welcome :)

I only did panel lining... And no paint, no top coat... But it still looks great... ^_^

Go crazy on it and colour the whole inner frame! XD
i think, there's no need 2 paint it...better just do the panel lining...it's a perfect grade...it's perfect... XD
Thanks for the input guys i qill prob not paint it and maybe topcoat it. Matte topcoat or gloss?
But why not paint it, I think you should! Why spend all that money on something if you're not going to give it the proper treatment it deserves?
Well that is the reason why i am asking this question. I am very new to Gunpla and have never built a PG. It seems like most kits are better painted, but in the situation of building a PG is it necessary to paint or can you get a nice finish product with just top coat. It seems like it would take an insane amount of time to paint all the pieces>
Depends on the kit and the person. Sometimes, ESP with perfect grade kits, they can look fantastic with no extra work or paint done.
Me, I might very well paint my pg astray but only because I'm seriously considering making mine into a gold frame.
Yea i think im going to keep the same color scheme, but i didnt know if it was worth the time to paint it or if the general out of the box finish was good enough.
Nice to see you got a perfect grade astray. I actually painted mine and added some colour in places. you can check it out here: http://s834.photobucket.com/albums/zz266/matts-models/ hope this helps :)
Did you just add topcoat or did you give it a full paint job?
I used paint on about 90 percent of the parts, then used a satin varnish on the other parts :) (Didn't use any on the inner frame though- tends to gunk-up and wear after moving it around)
This kit look great with just a straight built + panel line + topcoat. And if I were you, I would top it off with a semi gloss topcoat since it create the best result, not too glossy but then not too flat hehehe
this kit will look good with just straight build..^^ it's already a Perfect Grade so i think no painting is required..^^ maybe you could just topcoat it, to remove the plastic-look..^^
