Game Bits 1 : The Tester

One of the best moments in life that a gamer like us would be able to accomplish is to become one of the Beta testers of a game or a company. It just so happens that not everyone can become the crash test dummy especially in the field and gets paid for the job.
But now, Sony is about to change everything as they launch a reality show on the Playstation Network. The show is available for download for all PS3 owners to watch. The show is to give one gamer the opportunity to become a game tester for Playstation and yes it will be a "JOB".
"But the question is, are there gamers that would want to do it? Do they want the Opportunity?"
In the end 11 gamers were chosen to participate in the said reality show.
The Tester Trailer
(must watch)
Episode 1 is at Youtube. ( For now i guess )
So i'll be starting a new series here in the Figure.FM scene which Game Bits. Game Bits will be about certain events in the gaming world and entirely will handle surprise events ( if spotted ).
Also Game Bits will be your information gateway here in Figure.FM for the currently popular reality show
of Sony in the PSN ( Playstation Network ) " The Tester ".
For now all i can say is that this is one show that you shouldn't miss. NOT to mention we got the Top ranked Guitar Hero female player on board and a sultry Host for the show!
and also...
What the hell is a barmey?

Not to pee in anyone's Cheerios, but being a game tester doesn't sound like a very desirable job. Yea, some beta versions of games can be fun, I'll admit. Though, not all the time. I'm sure most, if not all people here have played a game that is just plain horrible. Now think about playing that same game in it's alpha or beta stages... for 8 hours a day. This Penny Arcade comic sums it up pretty well:

regardless, without those testers any game or software will be full of bugs so as a programmer myself i thank those guys who are willing to check the program/software/game for bugs so that the end product is a solid state worthy of every user's money.
I'm not saying I don't appreciate what game testers do, as I like the games I play to be as bug/glitch free as possible. I just meant, as I already said, that it doesn't seem to be a very desirable job. Especially not to the point I'd want to compete for a position as a game tester.
I checked out the first episode in the Playstation Home theater. It was ok. One of the girls on it was on WCG Ultimate Gamer.
I love how it's a PS2 game the mention too, not anything new like a PS3 game or a new PSP game...
. . . got through 1:02 of the first video and 2:24 of the second one - another freaking "reality" show, about gamers ?? I shoulda made a vdo of the old drunk guy I gave a ride home the other day, THAT was reality - don't know how he even made it to my door he was so drunk . . . a 70 year old once talented graphic artist whose "reality" is trying to remember where he left his booze . .
intressting.
Playing betas can be fun (heres hoping I get picked for FFXIV) but being a beta tester for a career is pretty different. Its not just playing games and enjoying it before everyone else. You have to time stamp what youre doing and keep a constant eye out for bugs, glitches, and other issues so much to the point that you can hardly play at your own leisure. Just like any other job, if you dont meet certain expectations, you wont be chosen to test as much.
