Figure.FM Wishlist

Hey All,
Its been just over half a year since the relaunch of Figure.fm. Thank you all for making it such a wonderful community! Time to give the site a re-haul on the UI.
Been working on your profile page where you can customize your own header, header link and background. A sample can be sen at the up n coming tsubuyaku.fm
http://www.tsubuyaku.fm/profile/ja/dannychoo/
The top page of Figure.fm is crowded with stuff right now. How would you like to see the design? Are there any other sites out there where you like the usability and design?
Coming soon are Instant Uploaders for the platform too which will be Windows and Mac apps - you just drag a bunch of images onto the desktop icon and it will upload to your figure.fm account.
Also lemme know what annoys you about figure.fm and suggest improvements too. Hope to get to work on the redesign in March.

A messaging system would be nice to stay in touch with comrades ^^
^^^ I agree with the messaging system. I was going to recommend a friend system or personal page but I just realized I think thats the last thing I would want is this place to become another facebook or myspace site. Not it's a bad thing because I use those sites and I like them but we have plenty of those type of sites already.
Be nice to use to keep in touch with comrades here who don't use social networking sites or have their own blogs / sites ^^
And we all know what happens when someone gets cloned.
Agreed. A messaging system would be awesome.
Fourthed. A way to send PMs would be great for people to coordinate the details of in-person meetings, classified listings, and other such things where you don't necessarily want the whole world to be able to read the conversation.
I would really like to make a cute profile where you could customize the
background and header, so it sounds nice to me~
A small thing I can think about it now is the ability to edit your comments.
+1
We've been asking for this for quite while now...
+1
Editing would be lovely.
Another +1--I personally am sick of having to post a separate comment just to correct a typo or a link.
And edit button would be nice, but it should only be active for maybe five minutes - like on a lot of forums - so that people can't really change their comment after people have replied to it. It's very offputting when you see a string of comments and they don't make sense any more because someone has done some serious editing.
+1 I make too much mistakes when typing.
+1
This so much.
Danny, thank you for Figure.fm because we love figures,dd,and plasmo!
I'm not good at designing web pages so I can't really give any helpful tips, but is there a way to stay logged in to the site and not have to log in every 30 minutes? I'm not sure if its just my account or if it is a problem with the site itself.
Other than that, browsing this site is pretty straightforward and I can't get off Figure.fm once I'm logged in ^^;
Do you set you cookies to be deleted? Generally i don't get logged off unless i wipe my web browser of it's cookies.
Oh, I forgot about the cookies being deleted. Thanks.
Now that I think about it, before the cookie settings were changed, I used to stay logged in 24/7.
Got no complaints about the design what so ever of Figure.fm
Suggest a option that the server will notify you by email when someone have put a comment in your post. That would be nice.
yeah that'd be so convenient
I like this idea as well and maybe to also notify you if someone responded to your comment.
Agreed. That's something I could support.
+1
Yes! It would be fantastic to know if you had a response to your comment. It's a pain to have to keep checking back manually to see if anyone replied to what you've said.
That was my first thought too. As well as getting notified when someone comments on your posts, it would also be good to be notified if someone replies to your comments.
yes yes totally agree to this
+1 Once again. Great idea.
+1
Yep, this coupled with the feature to get email notifications when someone's replied to a comment you've made would be helpful, too. I've noticed I've missed a couple of replies to a comment of my own because I wasn't expecting it/forgot about it. It's just a bit hard to keep track of.
Agree on this too :)
+1 as well...
Hmm... First thing that came to mind would be our old news items from the old system. I know some of us (myself and Tenrou included) was curious about this. I'm sure it's a pain to put them back in, but just curious about its status.
I'll bring up other things later if things came to mind that hasn't been brought up yet.
I'm thinking of this too.
Oh and speaking of Tenrou... Perhaps a NicoNicoDouga embed option, pretty plx :)
+1 for Tenrou and NiceNico Douga Users ^_^
I wonder if perhaps activating that "ecchi" filter we saw when you added the post visibility option would be a good idea. I wouldn't likely be filtering anything, but I'm sure there are some people who might want to option to have ecchi content hidden for various reasons.
Maybe there could also be a little icon that goes next to the post title as well, kind of like the "explicit" tag in iTunes. I've seen a few posts here that don't seem NSFW on the home page but actually are when you open them, but a uniform method of marking those posts - just a simple 'E', 'H' or 'エ' icon - would make everything perfectly clear.
Anyway, I don't think it could hurt to have the options there, provided people do the right thing and mark ecchi posts appropriately.
I agree with all the above posts. It would almost seem like an individual homepage here? That'd work for me.... (If that's what you're suggesting?) I like it...*I could dump facebook, too complicated* o.O
I would like to ask for a messaging system as well, I think it would be a great idea!
i do want a q&a message board kind of thing :)
makes asking questions easier instead of making a post for a question
free ice cream.
+1 eyes kreeem ftw.
Hehehe.. +1 for eyes kreem.... Lol.
free coffee/tea will be nice too :P LOL
Green Tea for me!
nice idea..i would love to have something just like a blogroll XD
Hey All,
Thanks much for the feedback and roger roger.
May I suggest these:
- Put your news on the end of page;
- Get a main image where you put some selected news, the image should work like the latest news on animepaper (http://www.animepaper.net/);
- If possible, you can see in the end of the same page (http://www.animepaper.net/) the customizable columns position. ^^
For now this is it ~_~ Hv lunch, and will try to find something to show you.
Love the figure.fm features currently. The layout is pretty 'bravely' colored and colorful pictures that ppl share on their posts blend in so well! B..b..b..BUT~~! .. There is always a BUT =) .. and there are oppais too ..
Would love it if we had:
- email notification if someone commented on our figure.fm post?
- chatroom? mIRC-ish or like the Ustream one >_<
..
..
- someone to FANSUB Danny Choo when he broadcasts live (UStream) and speaks Japanese!?
Last one is a joke but its crazy enough to be an idea =>
Please get rid of the Facebook Become a Fan bar. What's the use of it, apart from adding to the loading time of each page?
Woop forgot to suggest one more thing...
I'd like to have a link to the last few posts so that I don't have to go back to the main page all the time, if it's doable.
Thought up a few things:
-Replace the "toggle visibility" function with a preview function. I think this would be less confusing to most of us.
-Place the control panel somewhere in the menu under our usernames, so we don't have to go back to the main page every time.
-Like previous posters, notifications of replies to your comments and posts would really be welcomed
-Please return the real-time featured feeds section of the blog that was somewhere beside the puchi blurbs before. The featured feeds section at the bottom of the blog seems pretty useless since it would only feature a few users over a thousand of others once in a while, and by the off chance that one's blog feed actually shows up, there's probably only one or two over 10 chances that people would mind that. At least with real time feeds, people see what blog entries are new. If people are complaining about the loading time, I suggest making it an option, like how some parts can be invisible in DC.com's main page. I think there's more than enough space between the blurbs and the bottom part of the main page to fit a real-time feed there.
-Not necessarily needed, but enabling more bbcode tags?
Wait... We can edit our header? How?
I know this is old, but GOSH I really want one of these ;O;
