Dollfie Rei (27 cm) and Yamato Rei

Posted by PrettyCranium

Hi all! This 27 cm Dollfie Rei Ayaname is my first Dollfie. I think she may lead me down a slippery slope of collecting . . .

Rei originally had this weird bowl-cut that needed to be styled before she could look like Rei. The Volks website recommended Water Wax, so I ordered it along with Rei. It took me about two hours of playing with her hair and the Water Wax for me to think that she looked enough like Rei to be happy. I forgot to take a "before" picture, but here's an example of her hair before styling that I yanked from the Internet:

Hard to see, but she doesn't look like Rei with this hair cut.

I also got my Yamato Rei from the HLJ Sale:

In any case, I will have some pictures soon of my latest and most exciting get -- yes, I've finally bought my first Dollfie Dream. Pictures of who she is comiing soon!

Yes, 1/6-scale is a "gateway drug." I would, however, strongly suggest replacing the Volks EB Beauty body with an Obitsu hard-bust 27cm body if you want to do photos of her. EB Beauty bodies tend to fall apart at the slightest provocation.

She is an adorable mini-musume, however.

She actually did fall apart a couple of times when posing her! I'm using a very old point-and-shoot camera, so I'm not going to be doing too many photo shoots. It the Obitsu body the one used on Azone 1/6 dolls?

Volks is planning to come out with a whole new 1/6 dollfie body line sometime soon.
I kinda like the Volks bodies as they look very pretty, they are fine if your doll will be mostly just on display. If you are planning to play with her a lot then yeah you might want to get an Obitsu body or wait for Volks to come out with their new superior bodies.

      Ugh, tell me about it. Got an EB Beauty for a custom I've been trying to make for my mom of her WoW character, and the elbows popping out has turned me off that line completely. I guess the difference in quality control is part of why DDs cost about ten times as much as the 1/6 line instead of just twice as much. ^^;

Good job with the hair styling - definitely looks more like Rei now.

Thanks, it took me hours. First I started with a teeny-tiny amount of Water Wax, then I slowly built it up. It's still not perfect, especially in the back, but she looks like Rei from the front.

I really like the Rei dollfie especially her hair, it is very her. I like her expression in the second figure too.

I do own a number of 1/6 Girls and do intend to buy a Dollfie before I die. (^.^)

Went with the 1/6 scale RAH DX Rei in Plug Suit over her doll counterpart.

Yes, I bought the RAH DX Rei too. I like the plug suit better than the school uniform, but it's also nice to have the "real" hair.

The RAX 1/6 dolls is actually what has lead me down the Dollfie path . . .

I've kind of sworn off the Volks 1/6 Dollfies, for their pathetic little elbows, but I must admit I like the faceup job on this one even though it's just painted. Usually even the pro releases like Azone's look kind of off and a little wall-eyed when they're painted on, but Rei there looks great!

Wow, that water wax stuff sounds great, I'll have to try get some and see if it can help me improve some of the doll hair styles on my dolls.
