Do Japanese prefer Subs or Dubs

The old age question of anime fans and gaming fans around the world do you want subs or dubs has just been asked in Japan.
Spike attempted to find the answer, it polled people on its site from April 2007 to December 2009. The poll asked 6,656 people in Japan do they prefer Subs or Dubs in video games. 49% prefer subs, while 47% prefer dubs, oddly 4% of people voted “other”
PS3 owner’s found dubs a little more popular then subs, while Xbox360 owners saw it the other way around.

lol 4% picked " other"
I know :P. Maybe the other is referring to people that don't prefer one over the other?
Could be telepathy is in that category. LOL
Wait, is it do they prefer subs with another language's dub? Or that they prefer the Japanese dub with subtitles also?
They prefer other language games not in Japanese to be sub'd slightly more than being dub'd
A difference of 2% can be considered statistically negligible, insignificant basically. As no clear majority is reached as well, you would interpret the results of the poll as preferences being split in half amongst sub and dub.
そりゃあ、やっぱり字幕っしょ。 場合によっては日本語音声吹き替えはビミョー
Regardless of the medium/media, Movies, Anime, Games, etc... I am always preserving the original. Thus, I am a sub supporter through and through.
I like to see more Japanese dubbed games and western made animation. I've seen a clip from Prince of Persia The Two Thrones in Japanese audio. It would have been interesting the play the game with Japanese audio with Solid Snake as the Prince.
For em if ind it really wierd with dubs, sometimes, the VA (not to say they suck) lack emotion (IMO) or what they say and how they character "speaks" on screen don't match up =/ so Subs for me.
So this poll was just for *games* subbed or dubbed? That might be influencing it a little bit. After all, in a game, if the dubbed voice actor sucks, you don't have to listen to them for a significant portion of the experience. Unlike in movies or anime, where if the main character is dubbed poorly you have to put up with them for hours straight if you're sub-less. Also, I remember Danny mentioning that foreign movie releases get a simultaneous subtitled and dubbed release, so it is possible that dub acting there is more professional than here, where it seems foreign live action features get only subbed but if it's animated you have to track down a DVD to escape the dub.
It was for games only
and for me I like subs and dubs for games especially if its a shooter dubs is a must rpgs subs is fine
As long as it doesn't get mangled, subs or dubs, I have no preference over the other.
I like both, wish FFseries has both subs+dub in one.
games like mgs i have to have it set to dub first time round, reason being is that even if they speak english if there is subs on screen i end up reading it and missing on the action.
