Looking For Blogware

..if thats even the appropriate term.
To get to the point, I'm looking for some new software to blog/post news on.
For these many years, I've just been using Cutenews, since I only did update notices.
But with figure collecting kicking in last year, they changed and it turned into an actual blog more or less.
Other reason that the current Archiving is quite horrible.

I took a peek at wordpress once in the past, but didn't delve too deeply.
Which means I still don't know a lot about it.
So, what kind of "blogware" are you using?
Any tips?
I'm specifically looking for something that is free to customize the eventual site layout with (Something similar to what I got now on my site), easy to use and (Like this exists) stops those annoying spambots.
Though if possible, it'd be pretty neat if I could repost my older articles with their respective timestamps.

I use Wordpress as my blog platform and I would say it meets what you're looking for. Its pretty easy to use and can be customized via themes and plugins. It does have some spam countermeasures also. You can import post from other blog platforms via Wordpress, but have never used it to tell you how well it really works.
You could always create a free wordpress blog at www.wordpress.com to play with the backend part a bit and see how importing may work.
I used to be in Wordpress.com and ran my blog from there from 2006 to just recently and I was quite happy with their service. That would be a good choice of blogging platform if you want a really robust back-end with really good support/service. But if you wish to monetize on your blog, Blogger would be more ideal if you don't to spend on self-hosting.
I've left Wordpress.com to host my own blog but I'm still using the same Wordpress platform on Winterheim.com.
I use wordpress too. Its user friendly and the best part of it , lots of themes and plugins ..but im not sure with wordpress free hosted customization tho since im self-hosted.
Self-hosted Wordpress here. Some of the great things about Wordpress are that you really can install it in 5 minutes, updates are done by the click of a button & there are so many themes & plugins you really can abuse it to do pretty much anything - I've made websites for loads of people by just installing Wordpress, setting an appropriate theme & adding some plugins.
(Wish I could mass comment, ha)
Yes, the chosen blogware will be installed on my own site. No such thing as kammy.chosenblog.com or anything.
I'd like to note that with the last time I installed Wordpress (and didn't do anything with it for months), I noticed it had become sluggish with loading and when I checked the source code there was adspam all over the place in uh.. Meta tags I think?
No idea how that got there..
If it isn't kept up to date, the script-kiddies exploit security holes (it's not just Wordpress that has this happen, btw.) If you self-host the software, you are going to need to regularly check for updates to keep it in good shape.
*Drum rolls* Wordpress became the winner~
Still gotta mess with the gallery thing.. Looks kinda ugly atm.
