Gundam in Fine Arts

Posted by Sinistra [www]

I don't really think this should go into the figures section even though it pertains to Gundam, but it's not an actual 3-D model kinda.

Anyway being a Fine Arts major with an emphasis in painting and drawing I was given an assignment to create an self-portrait that used my interests as a way to represent myself. I am an avid Gundam fan so I thought it would be an interesting idea to incorporate into my painting. Anyway the Gundam head I used takes details from various Gundams, so there is no specific Gundam used. The piece itself needs to be re-worked due to the fact that I had to transport it and it got a little ruined due to the fact that the paint was still wet. Oh right, materials I used were oil paints.

Another project also being worked on is for a ceramics class, so I am trying to mold a RX-78-2 from clay, it's a tedious process but I hope it turns out nice. It is still a WIP so I still have a lot of work to do.

Any commets/critiques on both are greatly appreciated.

actually it is provided by my school since I am taking a ceramics class. The name of the clay is called Soldate, but the actual recipe for this soldate clay is made by my school's ceramics department. Of course I have to pay for the clay as well, $10 for a 25 lbs. bag.

. . . using the sponges for scale, I'd say the figure is about a 1/100, right??

No it's actually quite bigger...I would say almost 1/60.
