Chibi's otaku cooking
I love posts about food pics so I decided to put some pics of some of my cooking this year. I don't have that many photos, cuz right after cooking I'm often in a hurry to eat while its hot and forget to take pics. ^^"
I hope you like it!

Some yummy homemade ramen I made recently. Homemade ramen broth simmering raw chicken bones and veggies for 2 hours and homemade grilled pork shoulder. Delicious! Boyfriend loves it so we made it twice in the same month, he wants to become the master at grilling the pork shoulder ^^
Hakufu : Yummm I smell something good mama!

Hakufu : What?! Where's the ramen!!
sorry I ate it all, it was too good :D

Oh noes is that a kamehameha in my direction? *runs for cover*

One of my attempt at inarizushi. That was so sweet and good. I had some filling left but no more pouches so I just rolled it up in seaweed (I do not waste any food ^^)

tempura-don, didn't turn out as crispy as I would have liked but it was pretty good. side dish is a cucumber-wakame salad.

for desert, fresh fruits on a home grown shiso leaf. It's now winter, I soo miss my garden with my fresh shiso plants.

Well this one is not homemade, it was the sushi I had on new years from my favorite restaurant. So good!!

Very nice, me love good food and good eating!
Mmmm... all yummy foods! I'm hungry now XD
Omg! *drools* can I come over ?:D
Food looks delicious. Ramen looked good as well, but I've grown tired of eating it. It's funny, I'm Asian, and I'm getting tired of rice as well. D:
I find myself craving sandwiches more often than not.
Haha my dad is a big fan of potatoes, bread and cheese (those fancy french cheese). Quebec cuisine is a mix of french and canadian stuff. So I got tired of bread and potatoes for so many years! hehe. I guess everyone likes to try new different things at some point in life to kill the boring old routine ^^.
/drools.
Damn it. have to go find things to eat now TT_TT
yummy pics!
Everything looks scrumptous. Yeah, I also have the problem of getting my tenpura as crispy as I like it. I have been told to use corn starch and use ice cold water. Still doesn't produce the results I am looking for >_< It's a really finicky thing.
Yeah I used some corn or potato starch (whatever the recipe called for) and ice water with ice cubes and didn't mix too much as recommended, took the oil temperature and all but still not as super crispy. It wasn't total fail either though. I'll try recipe from a different book next time and hope to get better results! It's very touchy indeed!
Yummm I think if you add a splash of something to the tempura batter it will make it very crunchy hmmm can't remember the exact thing but it's alcoholic similar to volka lemme dig around for it and post again when I find it!
Okay this link here http://kokonuggetyumyum.blogspot.com/2006/02/kakiage-don.html says: (1 tsp sake … optional) among other tips :3
I also read about adding vodka to the batter as well lol Too bad we don't normally deep fry stuff at home, otherwise I'd try it :3
I can't rememeber if my recipe had sake but definitely not vodka lol. I'll try different recipes later on and pay attention to any alcohol in the batter ^^.
I do the deep fry once a month or so hehe. I tried homemade japanese deep fried chicken and that was particulary good, juicy and yummy! It put KFC to shame hahahaha.
you know your ramen is killing me LOL looks so good! can me and my husband come over for dinner? LOL
I can flickr u the recipe when I get the chance lol
Yatta!
beer is also a good additive for tasty batter . . . :D
raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamen~ please let me come over and eat at your table; I'll cook in return, stuff that's not in these photos like curry and fried rice......
I love curry rice hehehe I make is pretty often ( I used those premade curry sauce cubes ^^").
I think it's still cheaper you go to a local japanese restaurant than fly to Canada to eat though... :D
When I looked at those pics I think I could smell the food even from here. :O
The ramen looks amazing, better then some I've had at restaurants .
I wonder sometimes if some restaurants use instant ramen broth (like those powder base soup stocks full of msg that kills). The homemade broth is sooo much better. I like to serve a generous meat portion too :D
that just looks so yummy. now i want to get some japanese food.
