Needle phobia, fear not!

A japapanese professor at Kanji Takada of Kyoto Pharmaceutical University has created a new way of delivering drug's and making it painless. His method uses micro needles which will not break the second layer of skin, if that second layer of skin doesn't break no pain occurs.
The needles are made out of a water-soluble polymer that dissolves when pressed into the epidermis, the very outer layer of skin.
Other researchers tried to use sugar to make micro needles but their efforts failed because because sugar degrades at temperatures above 100 degrees centigrade, Takada says.
He says his new injection system will be available for use in Japanese hospitals within two years.

that's one thick needle... ouch xD;;
Honestly, if she's dressed like that, there's no need for a needle to draw my blood. =/
They need that kind of nurse in SAF! RAWR
Are people really that scared of needles? It's a little prick, the pain subsides within a few seconds, of course, i am talking normal needles here... Not needles like... you would have for a Tetanus shot or what ever. :P
I have seen some people who scream their lungs out just at the normal needles.
I try to calm them down by telling them that at least it's an shot in the arm and not a shot to the gums... though, it doesn't work. I wonder why... :/
Probably because they then think of how painful it would be to the gums (which, honestly, doesn't hurt either). Tell the next person you need to that "it's not as bad as being seared in half by a beam saber".
Ever since I was little, I have always been scared of needles.
I remember the time when I had a dental. I almost cry when I saw the syringe in the dentist hand. Surprisingly, it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be, be I'm still scared nonetheless. Even now I'm still scared of needles.
Needles are still scary to me.;_;
Like when I got my cervical shot, that pain stayed with me for a week.
I'm not scared of needles myself, but I do know a lot of people that are. My whole class for instance, so I guess this new technique is gonna be popular over here as well.
I do believe that it also depends somewhat on the doctor/nurse who gives you the shot. I remember getting a shot a few years ago, and the doctor was kind of trying to go slow with the needle so he wouldn't hurt me. But in the end that shot hurt a bit more than any other I got.
I was never scared of needles. I always like seeing some people scream and even cry from getting a shot XD
I'm not scared of needles, but if I see real blood I pass out XD
I'm not scared of needles or think they're painful, but I can't stand to actually see one go into me. I don't know why but I just cant watch.
Interesting news indeed. But the nurse on your picture is a better way to forget the fear of needles imho:P
