thedoorknob's room

Posted by thedoorknob [www]

I love looking at everyone's rooms so I thought I'd share as well. ^^

* Name: thedoorknob
* Age: 19
* How many years you have been an otaku: 6
* Nationality: German, but I've lived in the US since I was 6
* Outline of your collection: 30% manga, 30% cosplay, 15% artwork, 15% gothic lolita, 10% figures
* How much does your collection cost: including all my cosplay stuff, I estimate the cost at well over $5000
* Your fave item: this is a tough call but it's probably a tie between my Bridget figure and my BJD, Shiro
* Your website address: http://myfigurecollection.net/collection/thedoorknob

Anything else you want to say: Rearranging my room is one of my favorite pastimes so it’s hard to say how long it will actually look like this! Aside from anime stuff, my room is also occupied by about 500 non-manga books, a chinchilla, 3 chinese painted quail, a hamster, a mouse, and two frogs.

This is my rapidly-evolving figure shelf. You can see previous version on tsukiboard. It looks empty now but I have big plans for it! ^^

I support my fellow artists by decorating my walls almost solely with art that I bought at artists alleys of various conventions. I like to rearrange my pictures almost as much as my figure shelf, which is why they are held up by black thread rather than tape! Less damage to the walls.

My desk/cart area is nothing special, but it's on wheels so I can pull it out when I want to play DDR.

My giant closet is across the hall from my room. As a cosplayer and lolita, it's an important part of my collection ^^

      Thanks! I went through two foam insert pads and one metal pad before I decided that it was time to invest in a real indestructible mat. I've had my CF for about three years and it hasn't failed me yet!

    I take it from the sewing machine and the mention of you as a cosplayer, you make your cosplays yourself?

    I love your room! And your pets!! You have a Yaoi paddle! I remember when they were selling those at one of last years conventions!! £20 each... hefty price tag... yet they were all sold. There were Yuri paddles too if I remember correctly... the stall itself came from the USA. All that way to the UK to sell us doujinshi and h-games lol.

      Thank you ^^ I was lucky to have gotten my yaoi paddle at Otakon before it (and most anime conventions) started outlawing them as weapons. I really want to get a yuri paddle to match but they're hard to come by nowadays, not to mention they are kind of expensive. Totally worth it in my book, though! XD
