Another Baidai Chogokin. This time it's the DX Chogokin VF-27 Gamma Lucifer Valkyrie. It's the Brera Sterne's fighter. Generally the same as VF-25F Super Messiah Valkyrie that I posted before but a few thing has changed. First of good changes: all the weapon holder that holds the gun under the fighter is now built in, instead of an extra part to plug in. Arm is different making it more articulate than the VF-25F. The bad change, as part of cutting cost and making more money, the unit has way less metal parts than the VF-25F. Arms are now 100% plastic. The actual feet also are now replaced with a lot of plastic parts. It obviously came with no Super Pack or stand yet sells for the same price. If it weren't because I'm sucker for delta wing designs, I most definitely would not have gotten this one.

The big beam gunpod can be attached at the bottom of the fighter.

Indeed, the best DX Chogokin so far. I'm simply in love with this figure! Not only is it my favorite Valk from the Frontier series, but the figure itself features so many improvements over the VF-25.

Protip: You need to fold the shoulder panels parallel to the ground to make it look like the VF-27 is not slouching forward. (^.^)

Actually I initially folded shoulder panels flat. But then the should joint pin doesn't go into the slot. Then I double checked the box shot, and nope, that shoulder part is not meant to be folded down. If you look at the battroids shot on the front and better yet on the back of the box you will see that the shoulder panel is pretty much the way I had it, namely sloped to be almost the same angle as the front chest part. This is true even with it posting standing straight up. So I later changed it to all pretty much have the shoulder slanted that way. And of course the good thing is now that should pin goes into the slot correctly.

The die cast parts aren't actually meant to connect in battroid mode, but are supposed to rest under the shoulder panels.

Check out the instruction manual, 3rd part of panel 11 on the tenth page. The box shots are mis-transformed. Even the profile shot of the VF-27 on the instruction manual has the panels folded down. That way the backpack can be lowered more and thus eliminate the slouching problem, though to each his own.

The head doesn't need to be angled up that much like the last picture to face forward.

Well actually panel 12 shows them better to be flat yes like you described it and how I had it before. But as soon as you see panel 13 you see it's back to exactly how the box is. And since panel 13 is the completed step. I'm going w/ that. And since all box shot has it slanted, even pre-production images from the manufacture like this one from Hobby Search (http://www.1999.co.jp/itbig10/10103003a.jpg) show its slanted. So I'm sticking with what the manufacture have posted in the past for the toy and now what was see in the illustrations.

So how solidly do these hold together in jet mode?

Actually this and the VF-25F both hold up really well in the fighter mode. IMO, VF-25 is kind of flimsy in the gerwalk mode. In robot mode it's okay if it's standing straight up. But the VF-25F is not that pose-able. This one the VF-27 Gamma is more solid in the gerwalk mode. Can stand up much better than VF-25F. In battroid mode, it's an improvement over VF-25F for sure. But obviously you can't compare against something like say the Chogokin Drossel.
