A look at Animelo 2009

So as some may or may not know, about a week or 2 ago, the Animelo 2009 DVD came out which means we no longer have to look at crappy camera recordings ! YAY!

So I have ended up watching the Live somewhere around a dozen or so times. (some performances more !)

Some of that information is a bit outdated though and should probably be edited, as my initial thoughts on the even were that it paled in comparison to 2008. After watching it so many times, I think 2009 is actually the superior Animelo. Day 1 though, really wasn't my cup of tea. While the performances from Jam Project, May'n and Beatmario+Cool&Create were freaking awesome I just loved day 2 so much more . Maybe I just think that because of Mizuki Nana. And the fact that I am now a big fan of Yousei Teikoku and Tomoe Ohmi after seeing them for the first time. (I can't stop watching Yousei Teikoku's performances, and Ohmi+Savage Genius performing "Maze")

A few of my favorite performances would obviously be Yousei Teikoku, Tomoe Ohmi, as well as, of course, Mizuki Nana. Some of the others though definitely had to be May'n. Let's face it, she is always awesome, even more so when she gets to perform something other than a Macross F song. She performed Kimi Shinitamou Koto Nakare (Shangrila Opening) and it was awesome. She also did a duo with Masami Okui which was even more awesome. The only thing not awesome, was May'n's (two apostrophes, can I do that?) wardrobe. She was dressed like she was going for a jog or dance practice. But as I said in my blog, her singing more than makes up for the lack of some flashy fashionable outfit. At least she wasn't wearing some of that hideous frilly stuff a lot of idols are seen in. (ala Idolm@ster)

I also learned this animelo to, that Masami Okui isn't just a regular performer, but seems as though she is actually the producer of it as well. She just finds new ways to impress the hell out of me. She needs an awesome nickname imo. I figured if Ichirou is the king of anisong, and is aniki, she should be like the queen of anisong and be called nee-sama or something. (Although to my knowledge the sister nick name is reserved for Kikuko Inoue ). On a side note, Okui's birthday is March 13, and seems she will be having a "Birth Live". If someone is going, let me know how it was.
