I was greeted with a very large package last Friday, and even if I was expecting it, that did nothing to calm my excitement!

I was very fortunate to win the lottery for Mashiro Mito from the Dollpa 22 event, and Volks USA finally sent out the packages from the lottery entries! Has anyone else received an outfit or dollfie from the event? Anyhow, I went to work right away dressing her and making her look her best!

My sister and I made our own custom wig cap and stockings so that no staining would occur. The material was thin enough to fit nicely under Mashiro's black tights. Heck, it made slipping her black tights on even easier!

After which, my dad and I made a custom stand for her. The base is made from wood and stained with a deep, lovely finish that compliments Mashiro's look! It does a great job holding her at the waist, with a sturdy wire wrapped in stuffing and fabric that won't ever stain or damage her. And since it was made at home, it cost us nothing to make as compared to Volks' $55 stands. - -;; A little much if you ask me!

Mashiro easily dwarfs every plush, figure, and doll in my room. XD She certainly steals the attention from everyone else! <3 I'm so glad I chose her as my first Dollfie Dream, as she's even more beautiful in person and I love her overall design and outfit even more! Her face is just too sweet, I don't think I could ever change it.

Now that her stand has been made, you can bet I'll be taking more photos with all different poses. For now, I didn't want to mess up her wig or clothing with these first few. XD

By the way, if anyone out there is interested in the custom wig cap or stockings we made, just tell me! My sister is a wonderful seamstress and might start taking commissions for Dollfie Dream clothes~

    Congrats on your first DD! Actually I am more interested in the stand your Dad made lol~ care to show a few pictures of that? I have made my own stand before but it's far from perfect and it is not adjustable. I have tried to price out what it would take for me to buy all the material I would need to build my own custom telescoping stand but it's just not economical in the end.

      Thank you!

      I just took some photos of the stand so you could see what it looks like, but mine is fairly simple compared to what my dad could do with it~ (I'll probably make a new post for this XD ). For example, mine is a simple octagon-shaped base, but he could've made it very designer-looking with ridges and such. He also could've made it height-adjustable with a stopper, but didn't as it is adjustable the way it is. The wire is curved in an arch shape so that Mashiro's tail and hips can easily fit under it and it can be adjusted up and down within reason. It's very nice!

    Anyway, Nice daughter you have there.

    And speaking about Stands, I had a problem letting her stand with her own will. VOLKS stands are just overpriced. I will be better of making my own stands. Hmm. I guess I should do it someday.

      It /should/ be Mashiro and Mai season right now, but there don't seem to be too many Mais floating around, do there? A shame, as she has an adorable face sculpt.

      Volks stands are waaay overpriced, even if they are high quality and have those wonderful height adjusters. I love the stand we made, and my father might be willing to make more if enough people need them. So if you're feeling too lazy to make your own, look me up! XD;

        You know what, I have to disagree on your "waaay overpriced" comment. To sell these stands to us at $55, they have to manufacture it at $25 or below to make it even a viable product. You think about all the pieces that are involved into making up the stand, you will notice there is a lot of pieces that are produced with "fabrication method" and that means "labor cost" is involved. A few dollars for the base, a few dollars for the stopper, a few dollars for the saddle that are coated with PVC on the outside, a few dollars for the telescoping rod with screw attachment and all the labor cost involved in making the product. It is expensive, but by no means overpriced.

          As I said before, I know they are high quality. Overpriced was the wrong word to use and I apologize. I should of said 'too expensive'. As in, too expensive for those of us who don't have much money left after buying the doll itself. |D

          I feel like I've offended you, and I'm sorry. I should've thought about what word I was using.

            Oh nonono, may be I was the one using strong words. Because I actually try to price it to have it made and realized unless all the material are available to me without any retail markup, I wouldn't be able to produce the same quality of stand without getting overbudget. Just merely want to point it out if you think they are overcharging you for something that only take a few dollars to make, then you are very likely misunderstood what it takes to produce the Volks stand.

      Yeah, I actually went to order them several times and found out the same thing. XD; It's either both are sold out, or just one or the other, and UPS shipping is a little too expensive for me to justify buying them in separate orders.

      Not sure if I'll get around to taking pictures of the head cap and stocking though... I really don't wanna take Mashiro's wig off, as I feel like it gets a little more tussled each time I touch it. XD Oh, and the stocking only covers her legs, but we would've made it longer if it were necessary.

    I'm interested in a body stocking that would cover the arms as well -- maybe a long sleeve one and a short sleeve one. Does any one know where to buy these (other than by commision)?

    About the stocking: which color is it? ~ I'd like to get one to stop staining, but there's so pricey, and my doll has a lot of parts of her body shown, and so some body stocking might not look nice on it, if you see what I mean ^^;
    About clothes commissions, do you have any samples from your sister? *w* I've been DYING to find people who take DD clothes commissions.
    And will your dad take stand commissions? *dies*

      Thank you very much! I just saw you on dA and your art is very cute~ And it's okay. XD There are a lot of Mashiros around this community, so I'm sure this is nothing new to you.

      The stockings we made for Mashiro are a skin shade darker than an average pair of invisible tights. They actually look rather sexy on her, and I was tempted to leave them without slipping the black pair over them. XDD They still help a lot with the look though! I've noticed that, compared with other Mashiros around, my dollfies leg joints are practically invisible beneath the two layers. It gives the legs a nice, rich color where the black stretches and becomes see-through (if that makes sense). But we could make them in any shade.

      I'll have to ask my sister about clothing commissions! XD She's amazing with normal cosplay commissions and has won awards for her work as well as made some clothes for her MSD size dollfie. However, I think she's a bit intimidated with DD clothes since she's not sure whether her sewing machine is capable of such small, detailed stitches. But I'll get back to you when I know for sure! What sort of body stocking would you want/what do you want it to cover? And I'll ask my father about the stand too \o\
