Good Smile quality is getting more and more worse
Upon opening Figma Reimu her the arm was already outside of the hole. I didn't see this as a problem though as I could always put it back in place, but later as I tried to put back the ball joint in place it wouldn't work sadly. Turns out there is a large crack inside the hole which is hard to fix which. After a few e-mails the Proxy/Max Factory they were willing to replace it for me, but only if I ship the whole box instead of just the body.
Sadly I can't replace her unless I'm willing to pay for shipping both ways back which would be the same amount of the figure itself. I guess I'm stick with this defective Figma.

The second problem was the hole to put in the peg was way to tight, after I put the peg in I couldn't even move it properly.
In the end I decided to take it out.

Usually with mass produced figures like figma's and nendo's there are usually 1 or 2 Bad Apple out of the lot. I guess this happens to be one of them.
I have a similar problem with my figma miku because the front part of her hair comes off too easily and it fell into a heating vent once ><
I have 5 figma's only 1 of 5 is perfect with no mistake in quality or bad parts.
For the quality of painting not all of them is so good like the official pictures.

Figmas are flimsy now I think.

I have also been let down by the qualiy of recent Good Smile products. The problems with the Drossel figures were horrendous and although GSC sent me a spare part free of charge, it still shouldn't have happened. It wasn't a one off, most Drossel figma owners had problems.
My Konata figma had a loose ahoge right out of the box, her hair does not connect properly, her arm was loose and didn't take long to snap off and her stand doesn't even fit into her properly. Again, I know a few Konata owners who complained about the same.
My Miku figma again has very loose hair that does not connect properly and sometimes her face falls out too.
Miku and Kaito nendoroids, the accessories (leek and ice lolly) don't fit in the hands supplied properly. Kaito's hands are also very loose to atatch and I worry about losing them.
I love good smile products and overall their scale figures and nendoroids still are high quality, but the figma line is so dodgy. I won't buy another figma unless they release the remaining Vocaloid figma's to match the nendoroids. Since I already have Miku, Rin and len nendo's and figmas, I need to complete the set if they make Kaito, Luka and any future vocaloids XD
I will still buy Good Smile products, especially nendoroids, but I have given up hope on the figma line. The appeal to me was figures I could play with, but figma's are so fragile they're hard to play with much.

I hate to say it but,I agree.
Just today at Megacon I bought a Kagami Summer version figma and both of her twin tails broke.
One popped off when I pulled her out of the box and the other broke while I tried to remove it.

Yesterday I got my Vocaloid Race Queen nendoroids... the figures would not fit with their stands, and Rin's leg fell out. :| More proof GSC just goes downhill... but of course they are too beloved by fanboys, they aren't going to up their quality because everyone buys their stuff anyway.

I kinda agree with you, as long as fanboys are there to support good smile company
the quality isn't going to change

I don't know if I'm just lucky or what, but all the figmas that I own, and I own a good 50 plus now, are perfect in every way, save the common loose Konata hairpiece.
Personally, I feel that it is slightly immature to judge the quality of a product based on a couple of defective figures. Remember, Figmas, like any other mass produced item, like fridges to airplanes, will inevitably have manufacturing errors. It could be that a batch just happened to be defective or you could be simply unlucky.
...or maybe I'm truly just lucky.

Well, you review figures so maybe...
Goodsmile has people follow you around and make sure you get the good stuff! XD
Jokes aside, I do agree with you about the batch thing, that not every one would come out perfect.
Though I feel that for Fact's reimu arm joint, it is a pretty big defect...well, I have no idea how Goodsmile does their quality checks but since its an exclusive, I thought they would be more careful? >.< I dunno.
so i got 4/5 got something wrong is just unlucky ??
woohoo i win 10 million dollar easy then ......

I opened my reimu yesterday and I have the same problem with the stand's peg.
It's so tight that you can't even twist it around. So I just settled with having the peg not completely in the hole.
teacher-to-be :D
All my figma collections are OK, save for Nanoha barrier jacket ver. Her bangs just can't be put into place properly. In the end I cut a small piece of clay, stick it with the bangs and voila! Problem solved. But still, GSC needs to keep an eye on their quality control.
Your Master
Aw man. That sucks. Figma Reimu is a limited figma too. And probably the only one I ever (EVER) considered getting, despite the fact I don't like figmas.
Granted, with posable figures, joints are likely gonna get loose eitherway with use, and since you can also replace different parts with other parts, all the interchanging will also wear out holes or anything else where joints may fit in. Figmas look flimsy from the start partly a reason I don't collect them.
As something to consider, Good Smile/Max Factory should perhaps offer a kind of limited warranty on their products (if they don 't do that already). And, having a defective product is no good whatsoever.
I know GSC/MF have great products, but the test now is, do they also have great service? A limited warranty on their products would be a great way to test it.
When people simply shove it aside like it's no big deal just because it didn't happen to them, I can only say "selfish bastards..."
Same goes for companies. Every batch they produce should be tested thoroughly just to make sure there aren't any defects.

I got 2 figmas, the first one I got happens to be the konata figma.. and yeah, the hair piece being loose is really annoying, cause then the face comes off. Drossel was my 2nd figma, other than her shoulder joints initially being too tight, everything else seems alright.
Oh and btw, isnt figma produced by MAX FACTORY, and good smile company is only the distributor?
University's Slave
My Figma Fate has the same shoulder problem with her left arm. -_- Makes me sad. She's an older Figma though, from the October 2008 rerelease, so she may or may not be part of this same overarching QC issue.

I suppose I'm along with Actar in the lucky group. Out of the 30 figmas I won both limited and regular releases only Miku had problems with her torso joint.
As for the ones I broken they were my fault on every occasion by applying pressure to joints in a unusual angle or what not.

I've been having some issues with figma AND nendo too, even in the past =( (No not the ones I sell) So now my main figure love has swayed to Konami's Busou Shinki. If something is limited or exclusive then it should have extra better quality, shouldn't it? =x
Still will absolutely get nendo BRS and DM master though and figma BRS, DM, Luka(if). Then probably trail off the line ^^;;
Old Blighter
Yeah, shinkis are way more durable than figmas, out of all the shinkis I have, there are no quality issues so far.

I agree with gaiachaos, they use manpower (cheap labor, not to point out any issues..sad but it's true) to produce such massive production & they'll gonna sell it in high prices. There are actually good products but there are so many unlucky ones who experienced this defective type of product. Believe me...
It also depends how you take care of your purchased products...
My saber's right arm popped out too but i managed to fix it. As for me, I'm still going to buy figmas because of the quality of the character appearance although there are a lot of issues but what the heck, hopefully the company will hear our disputes & will make a move to innovate their products...for improvements of course. ^^
after all,the target market is the oxygen of the company.

Guess im a lucky guy since 5 out of 5 of the figmas i owned b4 doesnt have any defects :S or mayb my expectation is low?

List of my Figma with this problem: Reimu, Yui, Ein, Shirou, Casual Saber.. Might've forgotten 1 or 2, but they're all from pretty recent ones. Fix the mold!! Kagami's even has a crack in it now because I was switching sticks around to see if they fit others better (Though now I got some sticks which are too loose.. Heh

Actually you shouldn't be paying for the replacement since they sent you a defective product. Which store did you purchase that. My purchase with Play-Asia when Saber Lily Figma came out got swapped with a non-figma included so i informed them immediately and they sent me a new one and the game only package was sent back to them with them paying me back in my paypal account.
Overall here are the shops that i can recommend that will support their customers and who have upheld a 4 to 5 star service.
1. Amiami
2. HLJ
3. Play-Asia
4. Otacute
5. J-List
these are the only shops online that i place my order. As for special order either people here in the Figure.FM community or with TH.

I pre-ordered her using Yokatta proxy services, basically they told me they aren't responsible for it nor is the store that sold it to me because they don't "make' the toy.

Maybe you can fix the joint by beefing it up with some super glue.
I think I'm one of the lucky ones too. All of my ten Figmas are perfect~
NEET (no, student, AND employed min. wage)
But I do understand the topic creator... My Marisa Kirisame nendo actually has a bit of flash left, and the Nanoha Nendo I got is sorta odd... Like stand doesn't actually work well....
Most of these are easy fix (nothing that super glue and a bit of shaving to do the trick -although I am still looking through options for the stand), but yea... Sorta disappointing...
Sorta the reason why I may not buy figures any more, and just stick with resin garage kits or Gunpla (since if you screw up there, that's your fault)

The figma line's never been known to be "built tough." They were meant to be very articulated which results in making some sacrifices in their designs.
Take Western toys like GI Joes. They're sturdy, but pale in comparison to figmas when it comes to poseability. I'm not gonna throw the argument that they're made in sweatshops, because really, they're only instructed to do the bare minimum.
I'm not white knighting figmas (I'm aware of this, I had a couple of incidents as well...). It's the way you addressed the problem as if it's GSC's agenda to decide to lower their quality that irks me. Just a thought.

my Seiba casual's ribbon on her hair fell off. i wasn't treating her the bad way, but why?!
GSC is still considered one of the bestest figure manufacturer, right!?
oh crap if the quality control on figmas is going down hill i hope they sort it before BRS hits the selves.... T_T i dun want a faulty BRS T_T
