Alright, before we get on with the pictures, I'd like to explain a few things about the stand~

First off, I told my father that the stand didn't have to be elaborate, as Mashiro steals the show anyhow. ;D So I told him going with a basic octagon shape would be fine (especially since it saved him time). But really, he could've easily given the stand character with ridges/designs like you would see in cabinets or the wooden stands at Volks. He also coated it with several layers of wood stain. I chose a medium, rich brown stain that would go with the furniture in my room~

Secondly, there was a bit of confusion on when the wire was going to be attached to the base. My sister and I were going to sow a sleeve to slip on over the wire so it wouldn't be exposed with stuffing-like material underneath so it would be soft against Mashiro's body. However, the wire was attached before we could do this. And since taking it back apart would be time consuming for my father, we worked with it as-is and had to use fabric glue instead of sewing it all.

The reason I bring this up is that it's not as attractive as it could be. XDD We were basically going for function over aesthetics. But knowing that now, please enjoy the pictures~ (modeled by Mashiro, of course <3 ).

The stand can easily fit a Dollfie Dream at the waist, sideways like in the photo, or at any other angle.

The white fabric was chosen so that no staining on the dollfie's body would occur, should Mashiro be wearing something that left her waist exposed!

This is what I was talking about with the fabric. XDD You shouldn't be able to see the rolled up fabric edge there if we had slipped the sleeve on before the wire was attached.

And here's an example of the stand gripping Mashiro from the back.

The wire is purposely curved so that Mashiro's large hips and tail can easily fit and move with ease under it.

And here I just want to show that the stand is strong enough to hold Mashiro up on just one foot~ But at the same time, the wire is also flexible enough to move it to a different height (within reason).

They're actually pantyhose that fit all the way up over her undies. XD
But I had to roll them down a bit so they wouldn't rub on her tummy and stain. - -b

That's an interesting way to implement the waist hold style stand. I personally prefer the saddle style if my girl is wearing skirt (thus hiding the saddle underneath it) and use waist hold if my girl is wearing pants (such as Natsuki). I have a problem with the way Volks implemented the waist hold since it really doesn't hold the waist well enough to enable dynamic pose. That's a good effort! Thumb up!

Oh yes! We considered the saddle style as well, but haven't experimented with it yet. I guess I was worried about tipping, but that's silly as Mashiro can already stand on her own. XD

So where did you get all of your stands from? I know you said you made one before, but I'm assuming you have multiples since you have so many lovely daughters to pose~

      Anyways, thank you!

Oh, cool! The curve on the shaft of the wire is really effective--it looks cool and makes it somewhat more stylish and discrete than the usual style of stand. I can see how custom stands could be made to match certain characters too--appropriate magic circles on them for Nanoha and Fate, for instance, or maybe a bit of moss and grass for Saber to mimic the look of the ending animation of the show. . .

Thanks, I'm glad you like it!

How true, and what a great idea! I bet you could be very creative with the base and come up with some really detailed designs. I can't think of anything specific for Mashiro at the moment, but it would be cool to make a replica of her hammer~

It'd be cool to see other customs!

Or if you're not feeling up to making your own, my father might be willing to build a few for fairly cheap if anyone was interested. XDD

      ....What? I don't think I understand what you're saying, I'm sorry. TT;

If you mean that 'the base would be better if it were larger', I'd have to disagree (at least in my case). By the look of it, the diameter of Volks' wooden base stand is nearly an inch smaller than mine. If it were any bigger, I wouldn't be able to fit my dear Mashiro on my desk. <3
