A day in Nagoya
It's Spring Break here in Japan, so lots of exchange students at my university have been taking the opportunity to travel around Japan and to other parts of Asia. I went to a few cities in Kansai with some friends, and I thought I'd share some of my pictures!
We spent the first two nights in Nagoya, and on the day we arrived, having taken an overnight highway bus, we had plenty of time to go sightseeing around Nagoya itself. We went to Nagoya Castle first, then to Atsuta Shrine, and then we checked into our accommodation.
Extra photos along with more detailed descriptions can be found at my blog.

The original castle was destroyed in air raids, so the current one is a reconstruction.

It was raining and the windows couldn't be opened, but the view was still pretty good.

Most of the sakura aren't in full bloom yet, but we found a few in the castle grounds.

Atsuta Shrine. Supposedly it's home to the Kusanagi, a sword that is one of the Three Sacred Treasures of Japan, but no one knows for sure because you're not allowed to see it.

One of the miko at the shrine.

We saw lots of chickens at the shrines we visited.

The garden of the place we stayed at. It was pretty cheap and the rooms were really nice.

Cloudy, I think. The weather was pretty bad for most of the day.

So no one's ever seen the sword? this sounds like a mission. If somehow i can break into the shrine, undetected! like a NINJA. Snap a few photo's of this sword, and ... something.
