To wear or not to wear...

This thing bugged me for a long time...I noticed that in Malaysia, some women are not wearing shoes when driving. Yes, BARE-FOOTED when driving. Those who did claim that their foot grip on the gas & brake pedal are better compared to when wearing their shoes. Are women in your place do the same thing or this is just another Malaysian phenomenon?

Just wanted to share my curiosity with you all...

    Im not a woman, but I do drive barefoot at times. I really see any difference when compared to wearing and not wearing shoes unless Im wearing formal shoes. If forced to wear formal shoes for a party or something, Ill drive there barefoot but put my shoes on after I get there.

    Not a woman and I usually drive with my shoes on just because I'm too lazy to take them off. But it really is quite helpful especially for people that recently got their driver's license to drive barefoot. Here in Romania it seems this is a wide spread tactic but mostly because women here like to wear something like 20 cm heeled boots. I mean for the love of all that's holy why would they do that? Especially in summer???

    My aunt in Jakarta used to drive barefoot. I tried barefoot... scary because I can't control the pressure properly. I don't know anyone here who drives barefooted.

    Well, 'round here you don't see many women getting into car accidents because of stuff like that... From personal experience (laughably), it's damn hard to drive a car when wearing exaggerated high heels like the ones in style that them young'uns wear to make themselves look rich and ransom-worthy. It's like trying to drive with five-inch platform shoes, but your feet slip more.

    The closest I drive to barefoot is thongs~ and that's only to the beach, I can't feel the pedals properly otherwise~

    Wow didn't know that. Don't think this is going on over here (way too cold) but I did hear a story from the US once where a dude got a fine for driving bare-foot ^^;;

    I always drive barefoot when I wear sandals. I find it to be a lot safer, especially since the sandal can slip off and making braking hard to do.

    So yeah... It is nothing new. That, and I'd trust those kind of drivers more than those who wear shoes or sandals that may compromise their driving skills. (^_^ )

    My parents and my sister drive with whatever shoes they want to use. I myself drive barefooted... though they keep on asking me why I do so. XD

    It's much more comfortable and you feel as if you have a far greater range of control that way - just feeling the pedals directly on your feet makes you feel more confident about your next move and the depth and strength of how you push the pedals... And I'm not a woman. XD

    Honestly, not wearing shoes while driving is in my opinion dangerous. If you happen to get in a wreck.. Lord knows what'll happen to your exposed foot. I personally drive with shoes on.. And if its sandle time.. I still wear the sandle.. The pedals don't feel right at all without something between me and the pedal.

    I am not a woman and I have driven barefoot before. I wear shoes otherwise but when I wear flip flops or sandals, I take them off and drive barefoot. I don't mind it but it does feel a little different.

    I am a woman and I always drive bare footed. Someone said it's dangerous but I really don't see how it is. And driving in heels is hard :| Usually wearing Converses and I hate driving in them too. It's just easier to feel the pedals without shoes (especially in a manual car)

    I'd keep my boots on and refrain from going barefoot. You'll never know when you're going to crash your car into a creepy apparition, came to your senses a few hours later only to discover that you've ended up in a foggy town forgotten by all...

    I'm a man and I only drive with shoes on,I also wear alot of different shoes and boots driving alot of different cars/vans(I work as a motor mecachanic),so I constantly have to adapt to different cars/vans pedal layouts.And not wearing shoes would make it a lot harder to do.But it can be tricky with boots on as they are stiffer and wider than normal shoes,and can get jammed in the pedals,Pegeuots being the main culprit due to them being off centre,and the pedals being quite close together.So I have to pay close attention when I,m driveing other cars/vans.
