NeoEdo's "Sophisticated" Otacool room...
* Name (or nick name) : Edo...
* Age : 31 (but I look 20...might be a vampire...)
* How many years you have been an otaku : 15yrs
* Nationality : Latino - Puerto Rican / Mexican
* Outline of your collection : Shunya Yamashita, Inoue Takuya, and Queen's Blade figures (with the
exception of one or two high profile releases)
* How much your collection cost : Too much. Let's just say I really like my job...it pays for my hobbies.
* Your fave item : Mirei-san, designed by Shunya Yamashita (I bought 1 to display and 1 to keep in box)
* Anything else you want to say : Thank you Danny for giving us all the opportunity to show off our
collections and hobbies. And even though I've traveled to Japan 2 times now, it's comforting to know I can
keep up to date with trends until the next time I can return (for good...).
I figured I'd show off my simple room. I used to have a few pictures of it back in the figure.fm days.
Though, I've cleaned it up a bit. Stored a lot of my figures and decided just to keep/display 2 or 3 series that I'm currently collecting.

A view of my "command station" and the infamous Detolf case.

Just another view of the "command station"...

This is the shelf above...you've guessed it..the "command station"

The shelf up top. No true fighter is without a trusty Hori Real Arcade Pro.

View of my media tower. Lots of hard worked pay checks here. All imports (Japanese games). Either imported or actually bought IN Japan during my last 2 trips.
With the exception of the pc games on the left and the 6 Xbox360 games I own.

Now this here is where the magic happens in 1080p, at 5.1 digital surround. Funny thing is I find myself playing the Wii, not 1080p, more often this days. Though I love me my PS3 (my 900$ first release Japanese PS3...not bragging...actually crying over how much money I've spent...lol)

This would be my futon opposite of my tv. Love Samurai Champloo. Even more then Cowboy Bebop...yep.

Top half of my media tower.

Lower half of my media tower.

This are the magazine you see on the top shelf of my computer desk. Bought them when I was in Japan this past Christmas / New Years (and a job interview..expensive job interview). From a observing stand point, I really found it amazing how different the western culture compared to the Japanese culture is even with AV stores. No one looks at you, you don't look at anyone. At some stores you don't even see the guy at the checkout. There is a wall that falls just below head level. So you hand him the magazine, he tells you how much it is, you give him money (the always cute little tray), and he gives you your magazine wrapped in what will make it look like a "non-AV" purchase. Hey, I really got a kick out of that. (and yes..I'm so relieved customs coming back into the states didn't open my luggage...I would have not had a single explanation to save my life, haha)

Top shelf of the Detolf.

Second shelf.

Third

And my "you payed 200$ for THAT figure" shelf...Hey I like Inoue Takuya's art. So I was beyond excited when Orchid Seed started releasing "3D versions" of them.

Some really sweet figures. No, a lot of really awesome figures. Which one is the $200 one? *doesn't know*
You have lot of ones I don't have. I really want the top cold cast one, uhh was it Yamashita? The one girl in the seifuku with the sword.
Thanks for the comment!!
The figure with the REALLY big eyes...yea... That was the $200 dollar one. I mean really $180 or so, but then her "plane ticket" here didn't help the price. I actually bought her along with Menace (the Egyptian clad Queens Blade figure).
Yea, that's a Yamashita. Though its actually the PVC version. And yes, I had to put her through some "horizontal therapy" to finally stop her from leaning back.
You have a nice taste in figures. Eye catching!^^
Interesting story about the AV purchase. Maybe it's indicative of my growing up in the 'net age, but I've never had to actually *purchase* health care material, so this is really interesting for me.
Haven't even *seen* an AV store in Canada - or at least, never walked inside one. I think I've driven by a few now that I think about it. In Hong Kong, though, the stores tend to be in the corners of malls; you'd have a nondescript storefront and then curtains that go to about chest/waist level over the doorways. It's obvious what the store is, since you can see some of the stuff plastered on the wall, but you can't see the faces of the people inside. :P
