Hi-Nu Gundam MG 1/100 PART 3 STRUGGLE
Hello again........
Continuing my work,
I'll be doing some painting, cutting, and assembling of parts...
oww, and also cleaning and sanding as well... xD
To Prove to you guys how "Noobish" i am in this work,
you guys will notice alot of mistakes i have done,
wishing or thinking if i should/shouldn't do this and that 1st...
so it got me so confused, i started to say to myself...... "oww What The Heck....がんばって!" lol
soo ill just did what i did best as an amateur kit builder..
(*´ο`*)=3 はふぅん

just getting my things ready....

these as well...

before i start with the "cut & Clean",
ill be spray painting the parts the are needed to be painted.
the silver plastic parts will be sprayed silver but with shiny look,
the blue parts(original color was plain blue i think)
will be sprayed with silver, then coated with the blue spray,
giving it a light shiny color look.

at this part i started drying it all up by the window(which it will be quick).
sorry guys, taking the picture of the blue once was not that clear and doesn't
look like it was painted...
And sadly....
i run out of blue paint... T_T
so you guys mite notice some of my paint/finish
was a FAIL...Q_Q

I'll be staring now with the "arm unit"...

before connecting them
step by step, ill be cutting out
the big marks 1st....

for the small part,
i didn't use my hobby nice on this since it's too risky
and i may get a cut since this one is small
so i used a nail cutter...

now,
using the sand paper, i dipped it to the water
and started sanding the remaining marks
to make it smooth and hardly unnoticeable..

now to use my gundam black marker
to do my noobish line paneling...lol

"Double Facepalm"

the body and head complete...

Next.... Body and head unit.

And WALAH!.... A noob finish...lmao
not so dark enough, i think i may have to apply it
again to get the right finifh...

see that finish color on the right?..... FAIL
on the left side, that's the only one i missed to paint..T_T

continuing on the body assembling....

here's another fail....*Facepalm*

To clean it of with a semi wet tissue(suppose to be using cloth...)

and PART 3 Ends here...
part 4 soon...xD
i hope you guys enjoyed my work...

the head looks OK doncha' Think?

I like how you go step-by-step with the paint and clean-up... Keep going, by all means... it's looking good...
Thank you very much...
Is there no way to arrange this pics?!
im getting angry rearranging all of them.. they always mix up... grrrrr...
Yes you can drag over
OUCH!
Didn't know about the water + asndpaper thing, I just have a pack of different gradiented filers.
I don't know about spray on the runner though, doesn't the paint come off when you clean it up?
Don't know about going over the blue againt, might be uneven coating?
Also, it looks quite good. Always been interested in Hi-NU.
lol... Gamera Bearnie will kill you if he knew you. I did that at his AX panel and he made me as an example
=P -but it's a nice substitute for nippers
I don't use nippers either. :P
It's difficult to do panel lining with metallic color paint job. Since you normally have clear/topcoat after paint job before panel lining, however those would kill shininess of metallic paint.
Also using an eraser is an option to clean up after extra ink left over from panel lining.
nah...
i think ill just be doin panel lining on all the white plastic parts...
Yes... usually you don't want to do panel lining on top of metallic paint.. unless you got skill and equipment to spray urethane. It's the only type of clear coat that will actually keep/improve shineness
indeed...
sticker fail too?
sticker sticks later at the end of assembling....
well THAT one...... YES! lol
Erm you did say you sanded right? But why am I seeing tons of nub marks all over the kit xD Also what happened with the paintjob? I'm seeing smudges all over O___O
sigh....
that's why i told u guys... im a NOOB
and you may not notice it on the camera since its bright.... lol
Okay you're new at this.. Did you at least do some research and read guides?
And since you're new at building gunplas why did you go and experiment on a complex kit like the Hi-Nu?
wel i followed a guide on youtube...lol
why on a complex kit u ask? well....
it's kinda challenging even though i'll
be makin lots of mistake...
i don't regret it, im happy with my work.... xD
Props for efforts good sir. And quite ambitious to be working on such a complex kit. Though we always do have to start somewhere, it pains me to see such a beautiful kit go through that. I started and grew up with HG's and by the time MG's were released back in the late 90's it still took me a while before I got confident enough to building. I do hope that this is one of those kits that you do plan on re-building once you're more practiced and experienced in Gunpla. Cheer's mate, you have a lot potential in this hobby given the effort you're showing.
thanks...
i may try to buy another Hi-Nu LOL
and sell this one to my friends....
IF the finish is all ok at the end...
are you gonna repaint over the smudged paint of this mighty beast? i anticipate the final product.
if only i had another blue spray paint can....
sure why not..
I'd do this all over again just to undo my mistakes.
I suggest an Akatsuki or Trans-am color scheme.
i like your idea..
if only i could buy another one...xD
Do it, man.
but the thing is....
i have no money left.... T_T
i need to wait for another month...
seeing numb marks all over the kit especually the head
SHould have started experimenting on cheap HG kits
The good thing about working plastics and such, you can always do it over. Oxyclean 'n warm water to remove most water-based paint, or, for the brave: brake fluid does remove enamels, but softens the plastic. (ALSO, VERY HAZARDOUS!!!, but it can be filtered carefully..) removing too much plastic can always be filled in... Just take your time, that's all...
i wish i know what to do in removing the paints and stuff
but I'm really careful with all of it....
it may even get worse if i try since im a newbie...
Nice step by step WIP!
hm....what happened to the blue color? Is it because of running out of paint?
I have experienced the same several times before, but the result is not like that. Maybe something wrong with your paint?
you can say that...lol
i did run out of paint, i sprayed too much of it at 1st,
and sprayed too close.... which is not good...
so the other blue once have a bit of gray paint.
i didn't get to coat some of it properly.
the others got too much blue it turned a bit dark(coz i sprayed too close)
and the others got a bit a lighter blue look.
I'm working on the same one currently. Right now kind of stopped working on it. Maybe when classes end I will start up again. Also winter has been bad so couldn't really find the time to paint. Like how the silver looks. Gave me some ideas.
there's time don't worry...
i bet your will look more better then mine...xD
you guys do notice the paint right....
FAIL! this is where i kinda run out of blue paint....T_T
Just a tip, never ever spray paint on to the runners. Cut the parts out first and make sure that there are no nubs when you go to paint. Also, light layers work like magic. I see that you globbed up the clear blue paint, reason is, you sprayed it too thick. The transparent paint needs to be applied thin, layer by layer, or else the paint globs up on the edges. Also when you panel line, try using a wash method via enamels or acrylics.
edit: not acrylics, I mean water colors.
O_O owwww
i see..., i'll take note of this then, thanks alot....xD
Good job for the effort ^^ We all start somewhere.... Right? :)
ok... you made A VERY & i mean VERY big mistake
1st -> NEVER , EVER paint your gunpla parts when it still in its runner, like deku said, cut it, clean the nub mark, make sure the part is SMOOOOOOOOOOOTH, advanced method is not smooth though (that will be battle damagign theme)
2nd -> what you spray is tamiya TS, it is NOT water base colour!, it is poisonous, and it is lacquer base colour, i repeat, raw lacquer colour thinner is an organic solvent that if any gunpla part got into contact to it will be corroded or melted/brittle
and i said raw, it will be fine once its mixed with paints, on a right balance of being thinned of course
how to erase lacquer paint? by spraying another coat of paint over it, or use some motor oil, i dunno how motor oil work
it is recommended to get tamiya surfacer 1000 spray can, that is a primer, or a base paint to erase it, or simply, grey paints, DO NOT USE black, unless you want to made your hi-nu in darker theme
3d -> gundam marker is also a lacquer base paint, or is it? so if you want to do panel line with it, i think you should follow other method...
this kit is already a mess
but its not beyond salvage
before you start painting again, better ask to model kit forums, or post whatever paint brand you are going to use here
teach me more master...xD
but then again, do i have to erase it and do it again?
what can the poison do? tamiya paint is already applied.
if you don't want to strip it, just paint over it
but paint with other color to nullify your mistake
white -> bright ton color, paint all your kit skin white, then spray your wanted color after it, it will look brighter than it should be
gray -> medium tone color, similar to white, but gray nullify the brightness, your paint will have more its characteristic (how it meant to be in the 1st place) than painting over white parts
black -> dark tone color, painting over black is different, black color will change it, what once blue paint will turn into dark blue, red into dark red, or it will look blackish, dunno how white work on black paints
so what kind of spray paint should i use again?
what product besides tamiya TS?
so i should cover them all white 1st,
then put me desired color, is that what you mean?
im wanted the blu parts to me light blue..
sorry wrong spelling while speed typing...lol
try to use some paint remover liquid, I found some hobby shop have it, then re-paint.
IMO, rather than using metallic blue color, I prefer to use silver and top coat it with clear blue.
Tamiya TS is good choice, however you'll need more time to dry them, especially if you spray a lot ^.^
sorry, didn't really see the paint, it's already clear blue.
try to put lighter silver color if you still want to make it metallic color
White can be sprayed on black and give a grey-ish color,
however you'll need to spray a lot on it, otherwise the black will still dominating the color.
