Luckily Unlucky
This week sure has been interesting o_o
As I'm sure a lot of other people here are, I'm a big gashapon fan. I've been collecting all different kinds for many, many years.
One of my favourite lines that I've been collecting for a few years now are a certain line of Pokémon scaled figures. I have so many, I dread to think about how much I've spent on them XD
Anyway, many months ago I bought another to add to my collection; the first from the newest set at the time, which turned out to be a Latias and Latios one. But there was one problem... Latias had two right wings ^^; They're specially made to only insert into a specific side, so using one right wing for the left wasn't possible.
I thought that I would e-mail Tomy and ask for a replacement left wing, but I never got around to it and Latias stayed on display; sans one wing.
But then this Monday I thought to myself "You should really do it. The worst they can say is no and that's all. Go for it." So I did. I tracked down an e-mail address and explained about it and politely asked if they would be able to send me the missing part.
Later that day I received a reply from a nice woman at Tomy called Julie. But what she said surprised me...
I'm sorry to hear that you have purchased a faulty product.
Unfortunately we do not stock replacement spares, but if you could kindly email me your address I will send you 1 box of the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Blockbuster Edition 1.
Safe to say; I didn't expect that response at all. I only asked for a wing! ^^;
I started to think that maybe she had made a mistake and actually meant that she was going to send me a replacement Latias/Latios gashapon. But then she said 1 box of that volume so... I didn't know what to think. Surely they wouldn't be that generous?
I e-mailed her back with my address details and under 2 days later...
This giant box arrived. I guess that she meant it afterall @_@
I opened her up and this is what was inside. A complete self-dispensing display box that they have on display in stores, a big, full bag of 18 gashapon and even a little "With compliments" letter.
I couldn't believe it ^^;; All this and I didn't pay a penny for any of it, not even postage. ^^;;
Safe to say; as soon after I opened it, I wrote an e-mail back to her to let her know that it arrived and to also thank her for her time, help and generosity with it all.
Tomy really surprised me with their customer service. I never would have expected them to be so helpful. They've got my respect now, for sure XD
And to think; I almost never contacted them about it. I kept procrastinating and thinking "Nah, there's no point" or "I'll do it another time" for so long...
I think that I've started to learn now not to procrastinate so much and to just "go for it" more often in life. Nothing good comes from putting things off. ^^
Wow, what luck! I guess sometimes it pays to make your voice heard. What are you going to do with them? Sell the doubles or give them to friends? Or just keep 'em all?
Well, I think I'll keep a full set for myself, and then all the leftover doubles I'll give away to any friends and family that want them, or maybe do a giveaway or something. ^^
