Box arrives
Well another box arrived last week. Again it was another first purchase for this online retailer, Ami Ami. Their ongoing shipping promotion and the fact they ship to the U.S. made me pull out my credit card. I am a regular HLJ shopper and wanted to try out other online retailers.
Since I always opt for SAL, Ami Ami's shipping choices were registered SAL or EMS. I chose the former. The tracking results were rather interesting. It does shed some light on why some of my shipping take over a month to arrive.

** Inbound International Arrival, February 22, 2010, 3:44 am, ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS)
** Origin Post is Preparing Shipment Foreign International Dispatch, February 19, 2010, 9:15 am, TOKYO INT D, JAPAN
** Foreign Arrival at Outward Office, February 19, 2010, 8:41 am, TOKYO INT D, JAPAN
** Foreign Acceptance, February 18, 2010, 4:59 pm, JAPAN
Apparently my shipment sat in NY for a month before getting to me. Hmmmm, customs? Well the four Di:stages will be added to my other 17.

The first item I bought from Amiami has been sitting in New York for about a month now as well. I can't stand SAL shipping!
I think it more has to do with it being Registered Mail then it being SAL. I have a package sitting in ISC NY for 2 weeks now. If you google ISC NY they are like the black hole of international Registered shipping. How much cheaper though is SAL compare to EMS using AmiAmi? They add 700 yen to the standard SAL rate for it to be registered so I don't think you save much.
Waiting is ok. I don't like spending to much on shipping unless it's an eBay purchase. SAL shipments usually arrive in 17 days.
Another FL resident!! Will I be seeing you at Metrocon? Don't like Ami Ami personally their format and classification of things aren't attractive nor is it accessible as HLJ. Since HLJ is doin Fed-Ex now...MUCH faster I dont mind spending some more money for a top-notch service

Is EMS really only 700 yen more than SAL ?
No!
The 700yen is Amiami's registration and handling fee if you use SAL
Note that Amiami has half price shipping For items shipped Out in March whatever method you use
