MG Astray Blue Frame.. metallized..!
hi guys..! finally done, been slaving on it for 3 months, didn't realize how much work it required til i finished sanding all the blue parts.. fumbling and a few broken parts made the process even longer.. and masking, i tell you it's the biggest pain in the neck - 'masking hell' as one modeler puts it.. i think i'm happy how it turned out after all, a lil' too shiny i guess.. i know many modelers dislike gloss and they do mods in matte finish that look really good but i couldn't get flat top coat to match the paints i'm using.. maybe next time i'll try model kit paints on my old mgs.. anyway hope you like what you see, any remarks appreciated.. photos by my good friend marcute.. ^^

Love the color Scheme!!!
Cool! Even better than the one I've made recently.

man, I really envy you.
really cool!
btw are those sabers/katanas custom made?
Nah. You get those in any MG Strike variant with the IWSP.
yup, i couldn't get my hands on an astray katana so i stole from the IWSP..;)
Gorgeous!

Awesome! Really cool!
extra finish version of seed.. haha..
MG astray blue frame metallic coating ver.
hahaha, nice one bro! Love it!
Love the idea of using differen't shades of blues and grays. This is really well painted. Good job!
what a cool peace of art....
i really envy your professionalism...lol
what paint did you use? or what kind? tamiya?
hey thanks..! i just use automotive acrylic paints coz its much cheaper when you buy it in small amounts but the problem is i couldn't get matte top coat for it..
O_O
i see i see,
will take note of this, very helpful tip thanks dude...xD
Awesome! You should run a tutorial on it for us :)
thanks..! sorry i didn't have that in mind while doing this coz i also learned from tutorials we see anywhere.. anyway i should have taken WIP shots and shared it anyway..
I luv this shot. You can take more pro shots and submit them to Gundam magazines :)
Awesome color scheme and detail. Very nice indeed :)
All that slaving away paid off ! Looks awesome ! Seriously one the best looking models Ive seen.
That's badass. That's all I can say. ^ ^
Man, your paintjobs craps over mine any day, great work. only 1 thing i have to point out is a few nub marks. But the paintjobs keeps the persons eye at bay and thats what counts :)
yes i realized i wasn't that good in sanding.. i freaked when those nub marks appeared while i was spraying.. thought me that one very important lesson..^^ thanks..
Oh my sweet merciful peanut butter, this is beautiful!!!! O___O
truly impressive and upload more pics the photos are excellent as well
weh..^^
thanks bro..
Looks so metally. Awesome paintjob.
Wow man, this looks sharp! I really like how it turned out, and the metallic paint is just right I think!
thanks everyone..! happy to share what i learned from googling at mod pics and tutorials..^^
wow....super cool...i like the paint scheme
Very impressive color scheme... your detailing is fantastic..... Awesome job!!
o.O
Amazing work! Wondering if you could share with me on the color codes for the paints you used on this Astray?
colors i used were named mica blue, mica white, then i mixed it around with silver and gloss black.. silver was too glittery and rough so killed it a little with mica white (it has this pearly characteristic) then shaded the corners and edges with a lil dark gray (gloss black + mica white) and that's about it.. thanks..!!
yowza... custom mixed colors... awesome... thanks for the tips demonbell!
Kinda looks like a CGI~ xD lol
Lovely~ xD
omg it is beautiful!=D
wish u can post a full tutorial....one of the best colour scheme....luv it!
thanks bro..! i'll try to come up with something if not a full tutorial.. thanks again guys..;)
nice one kabayan :)
salamat kabayan..;)
This would be the best ever Gunpla that's painted for me, I have an MG Red Frame and this post gave me the inspiration, thanks a lot Demonbell! You make the Pinoy Gundam Modellers proud!
That's how creative the Filipino.. haha! I like what u did for that Blue Frame.. Thumbs up!
You've done a very exceptional hob there! Love the paint scheme!
hey thanks bro., nice to know people still get to see my post after some time now..:)
Blue Frame Astray is among my favorite Mobile Suits. Now I really want one. Great job. WOW!!! I would pay a pretty penny to get it off your hands. Among the best I've seen. Keep it up!
thanks skye.! nice of you to stumble upon my little project., been a while since i been here myself.. now you go get one of these kits, it's really an awesome design you'll have a great time building it.. hope to see it soon..;)
Wow, you get beginners like me in hype to start learning how to modify gundams... Nice work bro. Really love this, especially since I love blue. Like most people here say, you really should put up a tutorial. Proud to be Pinoy!
hey kabayan salamat..! i really wish i could do that but time is the luxury i do not have right now.. i have a lot of things in mind for certain gundam models but too bad for me that won't happen in the near future..>_< anyway DC23 is a big, big help.. i picked up a lot from him and you too will.. more power..! ;)
Thanks for the tip kabayan. Will look for DC23 here in figure.fm. I'm just starting on gunplas so I need all the information (and inspiration) I can get. Looking forward to your future works.
love the paint job... this puts my models to shame.... i really need to know how to paint, this is just awesome.... :)
