1/48 Mega Size Gundam
Finally I got the big box from HLJ, and what can I do?
A beautiful series of photos for my blog and forum's friends ...
I must admit that the box is huge, as well as its contents!!
Mega size is more marked for budding model makers, easy to assemble although well detailed (but here you can indulge in superdetailing!!!), but seeing pictures of the book done in collaboration with Dengeki Hobby and Hobby Japan, once finished and colored, makes his good figure ...
The book in question is very well done, with a mini-guide assembly, and staining with a fair amount of images of the finished big model.
Finally it is striking to compare with the OYW Gundam 1 / 100 ...
It looks like a bonsai!!!!!
Ok, next the pictures ...

Mega Grade VS MG OYW Gundam
The box is really big...
its may be big, but i expected more spures and alittle more complex like PG/MG range...
If you were expecting MG/PG complexity, you are sadly mistaken. It's more like the non-grade 1/100 and 1/60 scale models, in that it's all about color matching and besides; one of the main selling points for this kit is it's sheer size. PG frames on a kit this size would definitely up the cost even more, maybe to the point where they would turn off alot of potential customers.
MG ? how much would you pay for that eh ?
That's the point.
More complexity, more costs...
I think is good as it is..
I'd like to see someone alter this into a Psycho Gundam and put it in a diorama.
Definitely cool!!! I would love to build a gundam as big as this and pose it beside my Computer...
But reality check... Id prefer the Ver. 2 over this one... flexibility can really make a huge difference to me...
Well, this one isn't a fully poseable kit.
I think that if it was, the price was higher than that.
But why build a 1/48 kit when we can build a MG or PG for posability?
This one is for pure show!!!! :D
That's ridiculous lol. First time seeing such a huge gundam frame. All I've built are 1/144 models so I guess something like that is surprising to me.
That thing is huge.
The box is so big! it can easily cover my window. Nice get!
In the last Hobby Japan issue (05 2010), there is an article on the Mega Size Gundam.
Pro modelers have done a really good job on this monster!!!!
Another update on the Mega Grade ...
Finished!
This beast was very easy to assemble, about an hour and half to finish.
The only part that seems a little neglected I think is the foot. Nothing, however, that we can not improve ...
Positive note are the details, such as panel lines and head, really well done.
I leave you with images, so you can consider yourself the peculiarities of this "monster" ...
