Sewing Attempt

Posted by elquetv

It's a bit more elaborated makeshift outfit

I finally had some time off to do the experiment. It was something I wanted to do for a long time. But I must say it´s my first attempt and the only experience I had was seen my mom sewing so don´t be to rude judging me hehe.

Of course, I had problems:
I don´t have a sewing machine so I had to do it by hand
I pierced my fingers multiple times -_-
The fabric was rough and translucent

And the worst of all was when ironing the shirt I burned and deformed the left side
this happened because I use my wife’s nail polish to prevent fraying and the heat burned it. XP

so I would like to ask how to prevent fraying…
And any other advice you can give me.

by the way, it´s only the shirt hehe

wow nice effort on the top! The nice thing about hand stitching (despite pricking your fingers) is that you can make it very fitted ^O^ Sorry to see the accident o_o do you have a fabric or craft shop near where you are? Look for a solution call fray stop or fray check ^^;/ I think you may also need to use a lower heat setting when ironing on the parts treated with fray stop/fray check :)

"I would like to ask how to prevent fraying"
If you want to prevent fraying, there are multiple products out there like 'Fray Check' that can be ironed over after drying.
Your hand sewing is very good, by the way!

The shirt looks pretty good! How difficult was it? I would have thought something with princess seams would be hard, but if this is what you're doing as a noob effort, I might have to get a little braver when I finally get a guinea pig--I mean, DD of my own.

Very nice!! Making a fitting t shirt I think it's very hard and you did great. You can also use a handkerchief to prevent ironing directly on the fabric. Nothing wrong with a guy sewing :o I learned from my father xD

Wow, awesome! I love the fitted seams. It's amazing that this is your first effort. I am just trying to make a basic, non-fitted T-shirt for my DDs and am having lots of trouble.

Thanks! XD, but don't think it came easy at the first, I had to re-sew some parts several times, so keep going!
