Bandai's Official Card Captor Sakura Clow Book and Card Set

Remember the Clow Book and Clow Card set I reviewed before? Well, while that one was good in it's own right, it was far from accurate to the show counterpart. Today, I bring you the officially licensed, by CLAMP, CardCaptor Sakura Clow Book and Clow Card set produced by Bandai in 1999.
Extrememly rare and sought after, I finally mangaed to acquire one after years of searching. Definitley THE Clow Book and Clow Card set that every CardCaptor Sakura fan should own.

I've always want this since the series ever aired, but i had no idea where to find the set, but now at least i know that there is one in existance
I'm pretty sure the 1st set is officially licensed too. Bought it back in the mid 90's. I gotta get home, take some pics, and check but I remember my set has a Clamp sticker in front. I think the 1st set follows the manga more and the other set you found follow the anime more faithfully.
Still great sets though, both of them. :)
My set also has the magic circle in the correct position. 2 quick pics I took:

Checking my Clow set makes me want to go look for the Sakura set now. :P
Oops, then it looks like mine was a bootleg as it has none of that. (^.^;)
Mine are like these too. And the magic circle is in the correct position on them as well.
I got the American release of the Bandai Clow Book and Card set, but it just came with a book and the clow cards. The book was plastic in the American set, the cards were pretty much the same as the above.
Heres a youtube video I found of it, pretty dark though:

And here's one of just the cards:

I also got the American Cardcaptor wand, it was pretty nice except for the voice sounds, I'd rather my wands just make noise rather then saying the commands for me. Was actually going to sell it a year ago, but figured no one would really want it. Still have the box too! I have this version: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/rare-cardcaptors-sakura-wand
I was really in to Cardcaptor Sakura when it first came out in the US.
I have the set you have :) And was also a BIG fan when it came out as Cardcaptors lol. Only in the UK, so a few months or so later I'm guessing. Got my Clow Book in a supermarket hehe, had to beg my parents XD, was a choice between the book or a doll... so glad I went with the book XD
Would love to get this set but looking at current prices online...that aint gonna happen >.>
where did you find this set in the us
wherrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Hey actar , great review! after i saw this , it makes me want the cards even more then what i used to . Do you think you can hand me a link where i can buy it or give me the Japanese name for the product? it will be of great help.
Fantastic review Actar but... Now I have to get these cards - I already have a bid on an online auction for a set. hehe
I have one of these. Didnt realize they where rare.
Where the thing do you get that?? on bidding or something but surely that was a rared & hard to find collection...
I have a set of is similar to your first set, but my magic circle is in the correct position. And the back cover has information referencing CLAMP and the set was made in 1999. I can't read the Japanese, but I believe they are legit.
It seems my set was a bootleg, because it had no referencing information to CLAMP and the circle was printed wrong...
It happens ._ .
Always be bootleggers out there. Your second set is nice though. Really like the book =D
Great review, honestly, I was getting bored of figma reviews :P (mostly because they are all similar)
Yeah, wanted to do something new as well. (^.^)
OooOoooOOOooo totally psyched to do a review of my Clow Book now XD. Mines the UK release, so I'm guessing same as the US. Doesn't look *too* different from this one here, apart from no card game, no Clow Key and the Clow Book itself doesn't look as well made I think, no gems in the corners and the clasp is a bit flimsier far as I can tell. BUT the cards look the same. Colouration may be slightly different, but theres only one line of extra text on the cards, on the back of the cards that says 'Clamp et al' Nothing on the front of the card apart from whats meant to be there in the series :)
