My First GunPla: COMPLETE!
Warning... Huge photos on the way!
I've finally completed my very first GunPla evaaaar~! 1/100 GN-001 Gundam Exia... I built him yesterday. Took me around 2-3 hours not counting the coating period. So, here are some photos!

The sun suddenly revealed itself. XD So The pictures became all bright out of nowhere.

I like how these gundams can tiptoe while keeping their balance. The pros of having huge feet perhaps? I haven't finished panel lining everything yet, as you can see in this picture. His sword still has a bit of lines I need to darken.
Instead of using topcoat, I used Tamiya Spraypaint. Color? None. XD It's pretty much colorless spraypaint. The positive side of using this is you get the quality and outcome of a topcoat, plus you can go through the lines you forgot to darken. Also, this way, I can still add Decals when I feel like it. The negative side of this is that it doesn't seal off Decals that you've stuck before spraying. Instead, it destroys them. XD

This pose feels very wrong... Stop dancing!

Ugh. I forgot to rotate. XD

New wallpaper spotted!

I'm pretty satisfied with my first build... But this single nub left ruined it! I can't fix the nubs on his left and right shoulder-thingies... TT___TT

So here's Exia! Hmmm... He looks plain, now I need Decals. Where can I find basis for Exia's Decals? Well, this definitely won't be my last... 1/100 Astray Red Frame, here I come~!

Must take care of that.
I can see some nub marks on the shield, GN Blade, and hands... To remove the nub marks on the shoulders.. try sanding it using thick grit... then using a thinner grit...
Hmm... now that you mentioned it, there are a more nub marks on the accessories. Though the shoulders are the one bothering me the most since they're easy to spot. XD
once you learn to deal with these nub marks, it ends up being a breeze
That's not a MG btw, just a regular 1/100.
Looks ok for your 1st built. Hope you enjoyed your gunpla and please continue trying more. ^ ^
Sorry, I meant GN. XD
Yeap, I enjoyed it a lot. Kept me busy for a few hours, and I like being kept busy. XD I wanna improve too. Maybe I can try painting on my next one. ^___^ Thanks!
missing a part
Oh, that piece keeps falling off and it was dangerous to keep it on (might get lost with all those rocks). So most of the photos didn't have them on. XD
could just cement it and not having to worry about it dropping off. works on mine
Yeap! Plastic Cement is my next target. Then Decals... then Hobby Pliers for those stinkin nubs! Oh well... this is what I was afraid of. I just knew that once I tried, I'd get addicted to building! Goodbye Figma Funds! :(
there there. its a fun hobby once you get to know the basics. and patience is the key
That's the problem... I'm having too much fun. XD Now I'm on my way to the shop to sell some of my Figmas to buy Astray Red Frame KAI...
Love the MG Red Frame. you wont be disapointed.
I'm seeing lotsa nubs all over the kit.. You can clean 'em up by sanding or by a hobby knife. The panel lines looks okay in general though I musty say some need cleaning up.
Yeah, still a couple to clean up.
aww cmon, its his 1st time building a gunpla :)
Nah, he's right. I could've tried better. XD Your 1st is just like any other. You've been given a chance to build a GunPla, better do it well. XD
my 1st gunpla was far worse then yours so i could tell you that now. and i can admit that. too bad i dont have the 1/144 aegis gundam no more
Suprising there isn't too much difference in how it looks on the outside, don't notice the differences at a quick glance especially with the panel lining.
I'd say though between 1/100 and MG, the different is the time in which it takes to build. I got jealous when you said it only takes 2-3 hours to build the whole thing. it took me 2-3 to build the torso and head of mine! Although, I did go about cleaning it up with 2 gradients of sand paper.
Looks like really good stuff for your gunpla, I posted a link onto your first post to a really nice guide, not sure if you've gone and had a look at it yet though.
Yeap! It's a nice guide. It looks really nice too.
How come you're jelous that yours took 2-3 hours to build only a specific part? The fun in Gundam is building it. Completion is only the satisfaction. Knowing that the satisfaction is only in the corner, that beat's the fun away. Knowing that the satisfaction is far at the horizon makes the fun and excitement grow more and more. XD
All in all, a nice "first"... now that we're almost finished with the hobby trailer, I can get started on mine...(1/100 Wing HG) Congrats!!
o.O
Yaaay! Good luck. Yours is obviously gonna be much better than mine. XD
Exia is an ideal beginner's gunpla. Now you can practicing other marking skills like putting grey on the cheeks. ^_^
Is it grey? Because I see some people use Yellow. O__o
