I replaced the lower shelf with another Ikea one the other day. I've moved the original shelf that was over the monitor to just under the wall scroll on the left. There's a new addition on that shelf . :) Note the LED lights on the bottom of the upper shelf. (Ikea Dioder)

Close up of the Figures over the monitor with the new shelf. Mikuru has taken to playing with the Neko plushie .

The camera distorts a bit. The TV is a 42" Sharp Aqos, and the shelves over top are two rows deep with anime. The bookcase to the left is three deep in places.
Not my complete collection, there's another 80 DVD's on a shelf behind me.
I also scratch built the entertainment unit to fit the TV before I bought it.

Another of the computer room showing wall scroll of the Goddess and her entourage.
This one also shows the new shelf layout and additions
Just to the right of where I'm standing, I've added 6 more of the 4 foot long Ikea Ljusdal glass shelves. There is only one figure on them and some relocated bins of Lego and Stickfas, and some stray hardware, but I plane to get more figures.

Shirt says it all. Nuriko (Neko Ojou-sama) in the background is not amused and is warming up her lasers.

Tsukasa Nambu is bustin' out guarding the router

And here is the other corner with the new additions. (Moon Phase scroll and Ikea shelves as well as the Asuka figure.)
Also has the wall scroll of our beloved "Goddess of Death" :)

And some Hazuki-chan figures on the DVD player. Anyone know who the character on the right is?

A couple of SD Veritechs, and the Arcadia model kits. the Arcadia I picked up at a flee market as a kit and after building it, it sat on my shelf for years before I even knew what show it came from. ( I wasn't an Otaku at that point. ) ;)

Been slowly replacing them with slim-pack DVD box sets as they become available. Still, a third of my collection is VHS for the moment. :) Only ever had two Fansub series. Fushigi-yugi and DNA^2. Bought everything else.

I remember those days too. Back then anime was still kind of an underground thing.

Woah!! Same boat as me then!! I still have VHS tapes of old anime lying about but I have managed to update most of them to DVDs by now, although some are conspicuously absent, like my old copy of the Guyver OVA series. One of the very first animes to appear in the west in the 90s.

The very first Anime series I ever bought was Gunbuster:Aim for the Top. Still holds up well, even if it was a bit silly at times (in a good way) :) I want to replace my El Hazard and Tenchi OVA's with DVD's to get back most of that bottom shelf. :)

Photos were taken with a Kodak C713 point and shoot. Looking to get a Sony DSLR around x-mas. (if I still have a job, then...)

Job is an important thing to hang on to in this day and age. Though it seems that some places are using the economy as an excuse to enforce some interesting rules that they couldn't get away with in the past... :(

Thats not so much the problem. Sales of our product dropped off big time in the spring. It's picking up a bit now that we are shipping the I-7 laptops, but if the volume doesn't stay up, doors could be closed. :/

That's almost the same situation we have with my company, except we sell real estate advertisements... Probably because we don't have that many salespeople in the company...

When I started collecting, DVD's weren't even invented yet! (Shakes fist out window: Get off my lawn!) :)
The last series I picked up as VHS was "Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040" Everything after was DVD.
Got the Wide screen TV year and a half ago. It replaced a 25" mono CRT.

Yes, those were the old days, as I teen I had no money to buy anime, and had dial-up internet, so I would rent anime VHS tapes and COPY them by connecting 2 VCRs together bwahahhahaha
        times have changed!

When I was reading through your post:

Thanks all. It was a pretty quiet affair. Slept in, then later treated myself to Steak and Tempura at my favorite Japanese restaurant. :) No cake, but I did have red bean ice cream :P

Nice room and collection you got there. I was thinking about adding those Ikea Dioders to my shelve as well, so your set-up is a nice preview for me. I'm only planning 2 lights for each shelf though. Once again, nice collection. :)

Yeah, picked it up at an Anime convention here in Ottawa last year. It is true, though. :)

Been thinking of replacing it with a surround system, but it works fine does what I need it to do.

Note: The entertainment unit that holds the TV, stereo, and collection I scratch built for the TV. The design was based on an Ikea unit I had for the old 25" I use to have. Similar layout, just bigger.
